Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a Notice of Commencement with Orange County for new changes coming to DinoLand. This is connected to the popular ride, Dinosaur, and it indicates changes coming to the attraction.

The wildest Disney park is currently undergoing several changes, including a major retheme of DinoLand U.S.A.! The land is being replaced by Pueblo Esperanza, which will feature rides inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones.

This new permit is connected to changes coming to Dinosaur, and it details the work as “install set elements.” While the permit has been filed, it doesn’t indicate a timeline or nature of the work. We do know that Dinosaur is closing sometime in 2026 to make way for the new land, which is expected to open in 2027.

Disney also recently filed two other permits connected to the land changes, including updates to the meet-and-greet areas in the land and Restaurantosaurus. While we are excited to see Pueblo Esperanza come to life, we aren’t ready to say goodbye to DinoLand just yet.

The land is closing in phases, with the earliest closures taking place in January 2025. The Boneyard Fossil Fun Site is closing on September 2nd, with your last day to play being on September 1st.

We’re planning on stopping by one last time to excavate some bones! The rest of the land doesn’t have a definitive closing date as of yet, but be sure to keep following AllEars for the latest Disney news.
