Something Weird Is Going on With Disney World Crowds Today

Welcome to Magic Kingdom on one of the biggest holidays of the year — Fourth of July!

4th of July

If you’re looking to spend today in the park, you’ll want to be prepared for some higher-than-normal crowds. But is that the case this year? We’re live in the park to show you in real time!

We started our day at the Transportation and Ticket Center where the line for security was…well, not as long as we expected, actually! Lines to get into the park also weren’t too long when we entered right around 11 AM.

Crowds around the park were lighter than we expected, too! That wasn’t unwelcome, but it was completely different than what we were thinking we’d see.

Wait times weren’t looking too bad either, further confirming that crowds didn’t seem to be any different than we’ve seen on other summer days recently. The highest waits in the park ranged from 45 to 90 minutes right around noon.

In fact, some of the longest lines we saw outside were actually for the Liberty Square Riverboat! Not that surprising, since it IS the Fourth of July and this attraction is closing on July 7th to make way for Piston Peak.

Look at that line!

However, since Disney shows the rare Fourth of July fireworks show in Magic Kingdom only two days a year (July 3rd and 4th), we know we can expect to see crowds congregate in the Hub as early as an hour before fireworks time tonight.

This show is called Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky, and it’s pretty rare! We recommend getting a spot for exclusive parades like this at least an hour in advance for a great spot, and at least half an hour in advance for a decent spot.
