Heigh ho, heigh ho, it’s off to Disney we go! We love to eat around Disney World and bring back all the details so you can have the best Disney trip ever. A popular meal style is Character Dining, where characters visit you at your table while you eat your meal.

We went back to a fan-favorite Character Dining spot to see if it’s still worth the hype and if you need to add it to your Disney World itinerary. Come with us to Story Book Dining at Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge to visit Snow White and her friends!
Background
Artist Point is located in Wilderness Lodge, a resort in the Magic Kingdom area. You can get over here by boat from Magic Kingdom, by bus, or by driving and showing your reservation confirmation when you park.

During this dinner, you’ll meet Snow White, Dopey, and Grumpy at your table, and towards the end of your meal, you’ll receive an invitation to meet the Evil Queen at her photo spot. Besides the Evil Queen, they’ll come to your table throughout the meal where you can get autographs, photos, and more personalized interactions.

Now that we know the details, what makes this space so unique?
Atmosphere
As soon as you walk in, you’re transported into the fairytales you grew up loving. Trees are scattered throughout the space, reminding us of the woods outside Snow White’s cottage. They light up throughout your meal for the different characters entering the space.

Make sure you look up while you walk to your table to see a gorgeous mural, transforming the space even more. We’ve found this Character Dining to be one of the quieter locations where you can have a more relaxing dinner with your family.

We’re ready to meet characters, so let’s eat!
Food & Drinks
Artist Point only offers prix fixe menus, which cost $67 per adult and $41 per child. Guests get a plate of appetizers, desserts, and their choice of entree.
To start us off, we were served three small appetizers on a plate. It included Smokey Mushroom Bisque with chive oil, Hunter’s Harvest with turkey and chicken, cranberry preserve, and crispy saurekraut, and Wicked Shrimp Cocktail with bloody mary vinaigrette, seaweed salad, and spiced house-made seasoning.

We know they look a little small, but remember, this is a three-course meal. It came on a big tree display, which got us in a fairytale mood. The mushroom bisque was served in the cutest pot, and when we took a bite, we could taste the rich flavor of the mushroom. The texture was perfectly creamy, and we wish we had a whole bowl to eat. The shrimp, although small, was juicy, and the vinaigrette brought in a great amount of acid. The meatball was also juicy, and when we tried it with the saurekraut and cranberry to bring in a sweet and tangy flavor.

Out of the seven entree options ranging from vegetarian to fish to chicken and more, we chose the Royal Prime Rib Roast served with horseradish-mashed potatoes, carrots, and jus. Just look at that color! The prime rib was a pretty pink and was a huge portion. It was fattier than we tend to prefer, but the jus on top saved the day. We used the popover, which was on the denser side, to soak up all the jus! The potatoes had a strong sour taste from the horseradish, and we didn’t think the carrots were very flavorful. We would likely pick one of the other entrée options next time we visit.

For dessert, you’re served another trio of treats! On the plate, we had Miner’s Treasures, a cookie and cream panna cotta with chocolate gems, Fairy Tale Gooseberry Tart with meringue and gooseberry, and “Poison” Apple, a dark chocolate-apple mousse with a sour center.

As soon as we dug our spoons into the Miner’s Treasures, we knew we were in for a treat! It was creamy, and the chocolate rocks had a fun crunch to add a different texture. We thought the tart had a perfect crust, and the toasted meringue was one of our favorite parts. The best on the plate? The Poison Apple! The moose was creamy, and the crunchy pearls gave us a little bite. Look how cute the whole plate is, too!

Magic or Tragic?
You need to visit Story Book Dining if…
-
- You want a three-course meal while meeting your favorite Snow White characters
- You prefer smaller samples of multiple items on your plate
- You like cute presentation with great flavors to back it up
You might want to skip this spot if…
-
- You have pickier eaters at the table who like more familiar options
- You feel like Wilderness Lodge is too far when there are other more convenient Character Dining options
- You don’t like to be interrupted while eating (hey, we get it!)

Overall, we’ve eaten at all of the Character Dining options around Disney World, and this is one of our favorite full-service ones. This is one of the few places you can meet Dopey, Grumpy, and the Evil Queen, so it always feels special to meet “rarer” characters. For a prix fixe menu, we love that we get a few different samplers for appetizers and dessert, since we don’t have to choose which ones we want to try! We’ll be choosing a different entree next time, but there are six others to try, so we’re sure we’ll find something we love.
We still have “Whistle While You Work” stuck in our heads, but in the meantime, keep following AllEars for all the Disney food news you need to plan your perfect Disney World vacation.
