Some big changes are coming to Disney World!
In the coming years, we’re getting a Villains-themed land in Magic Kingdom, a Monsters, Inc.-inspired land in Hollywood Studios, and the new Tropical Americas land in Animal Kingdom. So many projects! But with these big updates on the horizon, it looks like some things are going to have to CLOSE.
There are a few Disney World restaurants that are currently on the chopping block due to new land construction. Today, we’ve rounded up the list of all the ones we know are closing so far.
Let’s dive in!
Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano
First of all, Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano will be closing in Hollywood Studios to make way for new Monsters, Inc. offerings. It’s believed that this restaurant will be the new home of HarryHausen’s, the sushi restaurant from the movie.
Currently, Mama Melrose’s is tucked in the back of Muppets Courtyard, but it doesn’t really have a Muppet theme to it — mostly just vague Italian with pictures of celebrities in the lobby. People have mixed opinions about Mama Melrose’s, so perhaps it’s time to see it replaced with something more universally beloved.
PizzeRizzo
Speaking of controversial restaurants, the closure of Muppets Courtyard will mean the closure of PizzeRizzo. This “rat pizza” quick service spot has some great theming, but people typically agree that the food is fairly mid.
We’re not sure if we’ll get a Monsters, Inc. quick service to replace this spot, or if they’ll use the space for something else — we’ll have to wait and see. Disney also hasn’t released details about when the Muppets Courtyard offerings will close to go under construction.
Restaurantosaurus
Over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Restaurantosaurus will be closing to make way for the Tropical Americas update. Currently, the dino-themed restaurant serves basics like burgers and hot dogs, but it looks like we’ll be getting a new quick service spot in its place with the upcoming land.
Disney has shared that the new land will feature a large hacienda that will also serve as one of the largest quick-service restaurants at Disney World, and based on the concept art, it’s in the same spot Restaurantosaurus is currently. We can’t wait to check out the menu!
Dino-Bite Snacks
But along with the closure of the restaurant, we’ll lose two dino-themed snack stands. Dino-Bite Snacks is located next door to Restaurantosaurus and could be used for new snack stand space or for expanded quick service seating.
Currently, Dino-Bite Snacks is known for its fun ice cream cookie sandwiches and other sweet treats, so make sure to grab your favorites on your next trip before it closes!
Trilo-Bites
Trilo-Bites is located on the edge of DinoLand, U.S.A., right as you walk over the bridge. This spot is where you can order Dole Whip occasionally or snag the famous buffalo chicken-loaded chips.
Since this snack stand is kind of stationed away from the rest of the land, there’s really no telling what they’ll do with this space. Using the space where it currently sits would allow Disney to expand the entrance for the Tropical Americas a bit.
So far, those are all the restaurants that we know are closing! We’ll make sure to keep you in the loop if there are any others added to the list.
