NEWS: A Popular Disney World Hotel Is Getting a MASSIVE Expansion

Some big changes are coming to a popular Disney World hotel!

Disney World visitors pick hotels for a plethora of reasons. Factors like theme park proximity, price, and hotel amenities go into the decision to pick a specific Disney World hotel before your stay. Of course, if you’re traveling for business, thinking about meeting spaces is also vital. Speaking of which, the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort is about to undergo a MASSIVE meeting space expansion.

Per several reports, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels are planning the largest renovation and expansion in their history that will feature an additional 120,000 square feet of Dolphin event space, bringing the event space to a whopping  469,000 square feet between three buildings.

The expansion and renovation will cost an estimated $275 million and will include upgrades to the Dolphin’s existing meeting spaces and Swan’s guest rooms. The property is also slated to get technological upgrades, as well.

Plans include a new two-story annex to the existing convention space. The first floor will feature 41,000 square feet of multi-purpose space and 24,000 square feet of pre-function space. The second floor will boast a 41,000-square-foot ballroom and 14,000 square feet of pre-function foyer space.

The two floors will be connected by an open atrium with floor-to-ceiling windows, a winding staircase, and a two-story chandelier.

The entire renovation and expansion project is meant to modernize the space, providing a modern look with upgraded hotel technology, better ballrooms, new carpeting, and more. Tonally, the new space will be brighter with lots of blue, gray, white, and natural wood colors that will mesh with the hotel’s water theme.

The Swan will also get remodeled guest rooms in the process. In 2021, the hotel opened 349 new luxury guest rooms, and over 15,000 square feet of meeting space were added in the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve. The guest room remodeling is expected to be done by the summer of 2025.

This massive expansion project is slated to break ground in November 2024 and is slated to be finished in late summer 2026, according to reports.
