REVIEW: McDonald’s New 700-Calorie Chicken Sandwich Feels a Little…Extreme. Was It Too Much?

We try a lot of food around Disney World, and we mean A LOT.

Because that’s part of our jobs, and we love it! We keep an eye on all the latest Disney parks news, which includes any rides that are having issues, any new merchandise that’s out, and, of course, what new eats and drinks there are to try. However, this new meal is available at Disney World, but not where you’d expect it. Oh, and you can find it in your hometown, too!

Recently, McDonald’s revealed that their Chicken Big Mac (700 calories) would be landing at restaurants soon, and since, if we’re being honest, we stop at the McDonald’s on Disney World property pretty often, we figured we had to try it out! Here’s the promo photo, which looks pretty ridiculous. It is HUGE.

And here’s a look at ours! Just the sandwich (without a meal deal) will cost you $6.29, but it’s a BIG sandwich. Breaking it down, you’ve got a bottom bun, a layer of lettuce, cheese, Big Mac sauce, and pickles, then a chicken sandwich patty, another bottom bun, more condiments, a second chicken patty, and then the top bun. PHEW!

While this was a pretty good chicken sandwich, the Big Mac sauce kinda threw us off. It didn’t feel (to us) like it belonged with the chicken. It’s a burger sauce, and well, this isn’t a burger. Not that it was necessarily bad, but we’re not sure if we totally loved the combination.

Our sandwich was also very thin and flimsy, which wasn’t what we were expecting. It has a little crunch to it, which mainly comes from the breading on the chicken. The lettuce and pickles had good flavor, but we really didn’t get anything from the cheese. There’s a lot happening here, clearly.

Overall, if you’re more of a chicken person but like the condiments and features of a Big Mac, this is likely something you’ll really want to try! However, if you’re spice-averse in any way, you may not like the Big Mac sauce, as it almost tastes like spicy mayo. There was a lot going on with this sandwich. Maybe go smaller for your next creation, okay, McDonald’s?
