Let’s face it — EPCOT has been on the hot mess express for the past few years. But that era of the park is almost over!

We have so many new and amazing attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. The EPCOT transformation is nearing its final step with CommuniCore Hall and Plaza, however, some other changes are flying under the radar. For example, part of the American Adventure pavilion is closing soon! Let’s talk about it.
The George W. Bush Institute is loaning 60 portraits of service members and veterans painted by former President George W. Bush to the American Adventure Pavilion in EPCOT. As one gallery enters, that means another must leave Disney World.

The American Heritage Gallery currently inside the American Adventure Pavilion will close for refurbishment starting tomorrow, May 28th, 2024.

The portraits will debut in this space on June 9th, 2024, and are part of an exhibit called Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors. The former President wrote a biography to accompany each portrait. Information about resources to support veterans and their families will also be available inside the exhibit.

The goal of the exhibit is to “remember the leadership, service, and sacrifice behind each of the heroes painted and the unique challenges our service members and their families face when transitioning out of the military.” This is according to Ken Hersh, president and CEO of the George W. Bush Presidential Center.

That’s not the only closure happening in EPCOT! The Disney Vacation Club member lounge located in the Imagination Pavilion is also set to close soon. It will shut its doors for refurbishment for over a month starting on June 2nd. In the meantime, members can visit the Odyssey pavilion which will act as a temporary lounge location.

On the other hand, we’ll be celebrating a huge opening in Disney World soon. It’s finally time for CommuniCore Hall and Plaza to emerge from behind the construction walls and open to visitors!

This space will have it all — festival areas, a stage for performances, a Mickey and Friends meet and greet area, and a new Encanto show. The area and final mark of the EPCOT transformation opens on June 10th, 2024.

We’ll be covering all of these changes so keep following AllEars for the latest from Disney World. In the meantime, check out our video below on the best strategy for EPCOT!
