It’s no secret that Disney reboots and remakes can be rather controversial, but no matter how you feel we can all probably agree that nostalgia is a heck of a drug.

We’ve seen remakes of Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and more, and it doesn’t seem like Disney has plans to slow down anytime soon. In fact, it was just confirmed that a Disney Channel series is being resurrected and we’re sharing all the details.
The iconic Disney Channel series, Wizards of Waverly Place is getting a sequel, Deadline reports. Disney Branded Television has ordered a pilot for the reboot, which will be executive-produced by Selena Gomez and David Henrie, who starred in the original series.

Gomez will star in the pilot as her original character, Alex Russo, and David Henrie will also reprise his role as Justin Russo as a series regular. New cast members include Janice LeAnn Brown (Disney’s Just Roll with It), Alkaio Thiele (Call Me Kat), and Mimi Gianopulos (American Princess).
The pilot will be written and executive-produced by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, who are responsible for another millennial Disney Channel series spin-off, Raven’s Home.

The show picks up following a “mysterious incident” at WizTech, where Justin Russo has left his wizard powers behind for a “normal” life with his wife and kids. But, he’s in for the surprise of his life when a young wizard, Billie, in need of training shows up at his door.
Billie will be played by series lead Brown, Thiele will play Justin’s son, Roman Russo, and Gianopulos will play Justin’s wife, Giada. Gary Marsh and Andy Fickman have also signed on as executive producers with Fickman directing.

We’ll keep an eye on the development of this series, so stay tuned to AllEars as we bring you all things Disney news!
