Did you know that you may be missing a whole section of Magic Kingdom during your visit and not even know?

That’s right! There is a secret island in the Magic Kingdom that you have seen on every park visit and didn’t think twice about. Don’t worry, we’re about to fill you in on all you need to know so you can be sure to make a stop there on your next visit!
Located in the heart of Frontierland is an island called Tom Sawyer Island. This quaint little island is great for kids and full of wonder with so many places to explore and things to do.

Your trip to the island will start with a raft ride. You can board these rafts near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and before you know it, you’ll be on the island ready to explore.

Once you reach the island, you have the option to do a few different things. You can explore, play some checkers, or even just relax in some rocking chairs to enjoy the view.

While exploring the island, you’ll find maps posted every once in a while to point you in the right direction. There are a lot of passageways through caves to wander through, an old mine to explore and so many other things. Just don’t forget where you came from, these passageways can get a little twisty!

In addition to the caves and the mine, there are so many other places to experience. There is a bouncy rope bridge and a barrel bridge for you to wander through — one of which leads you to the majestic Fort Langhorn!

Fort Langhorn is a great place for your kids to spend a little time away from the typical hustle and bustle of your Disney day and have some fun! The fort features cannons, air rifles, and even an escape tunnel!

That’s not all– if you’re looking for something a little more quiet and secluded, there is a picnic area that isn’t very well known where you can sit down, relax, and enjoy some snacks or your brought-from-home lunch.

Don’t worry, when you’re ready to get back to the mainland, you can go back to where your raft dropped you off, get picked up, and head right back to the dock!

Tom Sawyer Island also contains a lot of hidden Mickeys and nods toward Tom Sawyer himself! Keep checking back in with us at AllEars and we’ll let you know what other fun places there are to explore!
