Finding Nemo: The Musical was a show that played in Disney’s Animal Kingdom for many years, but closed with the parks in 2020.

Disney announced a reimagined version of the show, Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…And Beyond, would be coming to Animal Kingdom in its place. The show is set to open on June 13th, and today, we attended an early viewing of the show so we’re bringing you along with us!
One of the first things that you’ll notice when you’re heading to line up for the show is that even the building looks a little different! The old signage is out and now you’ll find the show’s new artwork front and center.

And, there are TWO ways to see the show! Guests looking to skip the line and guarantee that they’ll see the show when they want to can choose a Lightning Lane return time through Disney Genie+ (just keep in mind that Genie+ costs $15 per person, per day). They already have a sign marking where these guests can line up.

Of course, there’s also a regular stand-by line available for those not using Genie+.

And, it’s time to head inside!
In the theater, we were met with a decorated stage that is the same as what it was in the previous iteration of the show — but, there’s now a new (and GIANT) LED screen. The screen serves as a backdrop throughout the show to immerse the cast and audience into the world of Finding Nemo. As guests file in, The Marine Life Institute logo is on the screen and the stage was surrounded by bubbles.

Plus, there are even some new overhead announcements before the show including some fun fish facts. Needless to say, we were pretty excited!

And, then it was showtime! As far as characters go, the show was filled with all of our favorite fish including Crush (who still has his big Go With The Flow number), Marlin, and Dory…

…tiny sea turtles, like Squirt…

…the animated school of fish…

…fish tank friends…

…Bruce and his crew of sharks…

…Darla…

…and Nemo’s class!

Much of the same traditional Finding Nemo storyline has remained in the show, but we found that it was a lot more immersive and bright thanks to the new LED screen — it added a lot of texture and light.

And, if you want to watch the show for yourself today, you can — Disney surprised guests today and soft-opened the show before it is officially set to debut on June 13th! Showtimes are a bit more limited during this time, taking place at 12:30PM, 2:30PM, 3:30PM, and 4:30PM.

Disney hasn’t shared whether there will be showtimes on June 12th as well, but you won’t find the showtimes in the My Disney Experience app. So, be sure to stop by the theater area to see if the showtimes have changed, or if they’re still being offered!

Once officially open, the show will run daily from 10:30AM, 11:30AM, 12:30PM, 2:30PM, 3:30PM, and 4:30PM at the Theater in the Wild.
And, that’s all we have to share from the reimagined show! If you’re wanting to see the show once it officially opens, be sure to take a look at the showtimes. And, if you’re looking to see another show while you’re visiting in Animal Kingdom, take a look at the new way you can watch KiteTails here.
