Spider-Man: No Way Home News

It has been a few weeks since Marvel’s latest hit was released in theaters, and it’s still breaking box office records! More Comments from Bob Iger

Former Disney CEO Bob Iger has had a lot to say about the company’s future with streaming recently, and this week, he had more comments — this time about movie theaters! According to CNBC, he shared that he didn’t believe that movie theaters were really in danger, noting that “People like to go out. That’s not going away. They love experiencing things in physical form.” Throughout the interview, he notes the various ways that content resonates among viewers, sharing that he believes there is value in both streaming and the movie-going experience.

Thoughts on Disney+ and Netflix from NASDAQ

This week, NASDAQ posted an article asking the question that many fans are wondering: will Disney+ surpass Netflix in 2022? Disney+ is currently only 40 million subscribers behind the older streaming service, but there are a few things standing in the way of it taking the lead. For starters, Disney still continues to release movies theatrically first, while Netflix’s films are exclusively available on the platform.

Also, Disney+ is behind schedule in terms of content due to production shutdowns in 2020. Disney+ may eventually overtake the streaming giant, but it’ll likely take a few years of recovery first.
