The week just flies by when you’re having fun — it also flies by when you’re trying to keep up with all the Disney news.
And there has been a lot of Disney news this week, but don’t worry if you missed anything. We’ve put together a list of the top stories so that you can stay in the know.
Rise of the Resistance to Stop Using Boarding Passes
Maybe the biggest story of the week was Disney’s announcement that Rise of the Resistance at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios would stop using boarding passes soon. Starting on September 23rd, the ride will switch to a standby line system, which means guests no longer have to obtain a boarding pass via the My Disney Experience app before riding.
However, guests wanting to skip the line will be able to do so with Individual Attraction Selection — this service, though, will be offered for an additional charge to guests who wish to use it. However, Disney has not confirmed when this service will become available.
Marvel’s Shang-Chi Dominates Box Office Again
For the second weekend in a row, Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has reigned supreme at the box office. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film claimed the top box office spot for the second weekend in a row, earning $35.8 million in the domestic market.
This brings the total domestic revenue to $145.6 million, while global revenue is now $257.6 million.
There’s also a brand new shop open at EPCOT: Creations Shop, which will take over as the flagship merchandise location at the park from Mouse Gear, officially opened its doors to guests this week.
And if you’re looking for some sweet new EPCOT gear, this is where you’ll want to go — the shop has an exclusive collection you won’t find anywhere else.
Nearby, there’s also a brand new Popcorn Stand open.
So if you find yourself feeling a little peckish after all that shopping at Creations Shop, you now know where you can get a quick snack.
Space 220 Menu Released
We are getting excited to check out the new Space 220 Restaurant coming to EPCOT on September 20th. And this week, we finally got to see what the menu and pricing looks like. Lunch will be a two-course prix-fixe meal for $55 per person, while Dinner will be a three-course prix-fixe meal for $79 per person.
If you want a peek at the full menu, check it out here. For the first week after the restaurant’s opening (September 20th-26th), Space 220 will only be accepting walk-ins, but as of September 27th, reservations will be available (and you can make those reservations on September 20th).
Return of Fireworks Dining Packages and Dessert Parties
This week also saw Disney World make announcements about the return of fireworks dining packages and dessert parties. First, two dining packages were announced for EPCOT’s Harmonious (which debuts on October 1st). Guests can choose from a dining package at the Rose & Crown Dining Room at the UK Pavilion for $89 per person, while children can dine and watch the fireworks for $39.
Guests can also choose to dine at Spice Road Table in the Morocco Pavilion. The price for that package is $72 per adult and $31 per child. Both packages include fireworks viewing.
We also found out that Fireworks Dessert Parties would soon return to Magic Kingdom. Starting on October 3rd, guests will be able to choose from three Magic Kingdom 50th Fireworks Dessert Parties:
- Disney Enchantment Pre-Party
- Disney Enchantment After-Party
- Disney Enchantment Treats & Seats
Each pre-party comes with its own perks, and if you want to check them all out, here’s where you can do so.
So those are the biggest Disney stories this week, but we’ll be back soon with even more Disney news, so stay tuned.
