PHOTOS: Sorry, EPCOT, But Animal Kingdom Might Have the Best 50th Anniversary Statues

Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Golden Character Statues are popping up all around the theme parks! Starting last week in Magic Kingdom, these stunning statues feature some of our favorite Disney characters to commemorate this major milestone!

We spotted (and LOVED) new statues this morning at EPCOT, and now we’re checking out Disney’s Animal Kingdom to get a first look at their statues! We know we just said that EPCOT had the best statues…but we may have already changed our minds!

As you can imagine, the statues at Animal Kingdom have a specific theme, and all of them are inspired by some of the most beloved animals featured in Disney films (that have also played a big role in the history of the park!). Over by the Tree of Life, guests will spot a few characters from The Lion King!

The classic trio includes Simba…

…as well as Timon and Pumbaa!

Not too far away from those statues are Bambi and Thumper!

Bambi is cast in his signature pose with a butterfly on his tail!

Also spotted at Animal Kingdom today is the Nemo and Dory statue!

We can’t wait to check out the new reimagined Finding Nemo musical which will debut at Animal Kingdom in 2022 — this statue will have to hold us over until then!

We know we said that EPCOT might have the best statues…but Animal Kingdom is firing on all cylinders, too! We’ll be on the lookout for more statues in the coming days as Disney World gets ready to kick off its 50th Anniversary Celebration on October 1st!
