Today is Epic Universe’s grand opening, and guests are here to celebrate!

When we ran through the portals this morning, we hit a roadblock — one of the park’s most popular attractions had yet to open. Yikes!
Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry didn’t open at 9 AM with the park, despite crowds lining up as soon as the portal opened around 8 AM.

Other areas of the park seemed fairly empty, and we were able to walk on many rides, but the line stayed steady in the Ministry of Magic. We’re glad to announce that around 3:30 PM, the ride was finally back up and running, and people were able to ride.
That’s 6.5 hours later! That’s a long time to be closed on opening day.

We’ve seen the wait time get up to 300 minutes (5 hours), and right now, it’s hanging around 210-240 as everyone ran back to get in line. Universal is still figuring out the people flow for the attraction, which will take some tinkering with the wait times.

This ride had similar issues during previews, and while we were hopeful that it would all be sorted out, this is still a brand-new attraction that uses some incredible technology. Universal is still working on perfecting it.

While nothing compares to the ride, sometimes when the attraction is down, they’ll allow guests to enter the queue to check it out. We know it’s not quite as thrilling, but you do get to experience transporting through Floo Powder and entering the Ministry. You can take the time you want to get photos, so when the ride is up and you’re able to get in line, you don’t have to take the time to stop.

If you’re planning on going to Epic Universe soon (or any theme park) remember to be paticient with Team Members since they aren’t in control of the ride. They wish it were running like you do!
