All the Closures You Need to Know About in Disney World This Week

Disney has been hard at work sprucing up the parks and resorts before the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary celebrations, which has led to quite a few refurbishments recently.

And, while some closures can’t be anticipated, here at AllEars, we keep you up to date on all the ones that we do know about! So today, we’re bringing you an update on everything that will be closed from August 30th to September 5th, 2021 in Disney World.

Magic Kingdom Refurbishments

Walt Disney World Railroad

The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for more than two years now, as a portion of the construction at TRON: Lightcycle Run is currently blocking a portion of the tracks.

And, guests won’t be able to ride around the park on the train just yet, as the closure will extend into next week as well at Magic Kingdom.

Main Street Confectionery

And, on Main Street, U.S.A. the Main Street Confectionery will be closed once again as Disney works to transform the space with all-new experiences for the 50th Anniversary.

Disney hasn’t shared an opening date for the sweet shop yet, but for now, guests can find many of the treats that were once sold here at the Main Street Cinema.

Liberty Square Riverboat

Last week, the Liberty Square Riverboat closed for a short refurbishment and, now it is close to wrapping up!

The attraction will only be unavailable through August 31st and will then be open for guests once again.

Disney World Resort Refurbishments

Of course, there is also some construction going on at the Disney Resorts that may impact your stay this week as well. At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort work will still be underway on the monorail station and entrance area resulting in the continued closure of the monorail.

It’s almost done!

Plus, at Disney’s Contemporary Resort the rooms in the main tower will remain closed as Disney refurbishes the rooms to have an Incredibles theme. And, down in the main lobby, The Wave…of American Flavors will also be closed as the space is being reimagined for the 50th Anniversary.

Over at  Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, guests will continue to be directed to a new curbside check-in area at the Disney Vacation Club Preview Center while the port cochere and the main lobby area receive updates…

…and, at Disney’s Old Key West Resort closures are impacting the den and lobby as each area gets refurbished.
