Eight Disney Princesses Who Would NOT Survive in Today’s World (And Seven Who Would!)

Which Disney Princess is your favorite? There are so many lovely ladies to choose from, and we love each one of them for their own individual reasons.

You can see tons of princesses in Magic Kingdom!

However, while all of these princesses dominate their respective films, we got to thinking:

Which princesses would NOT be able to make it in today’s world? And, while we’re on the topic, which ones would?

**NOTE: The characters mentioned in this article do not all reflect the “official” Disney Princess lineup. **

Let’s start with the Disney Princesses who WOULDN’T survive well in today’s world!

Snow White

Starting off with the OG Disney Princess, we’re pretty certain that Snow White wouldn’t adjust too well to life today. First of all, she’s breaking some pretty major rules: accepting food from strangers AND moving in with seven strange men she doesn’t know. She’s basically a walking example of things NOT to do — not the best role model in the modern age! 😂

Plus, can we talk about the food safety violations? ©Disney

Aurora

Oh, Aurora, as nice as she seems, she probably wouldn’t be too great at the whole “adulting” thing. She’d probably oversleep and miss work, school, and everything else. Also, if she fell in love, she’d be a helpless romantic and wouldn’t be able to focus on any of her responsibilities. It’s cute at first, but it might get pretty annoying after a while.

Ariel

Do you know what comes to mind when we think about Ariel in the modern age? She’s a hoarder. She’d be on one of those reality shows where people come to clean up your house because her family and friends would be tired of the disaster zone she calls her home. Plus, it’s important to note that she was willing to give up her entire life to be with a boy that she’d only seen from a distance — that’s not very balanced.

Jasmine

Completely trusting a guy you just met and know nothing about? Yeah, Jasmine would totally get catfished these days. She’d also have a really hard time adjusting to life on her own. I mean, come on, she didn’t even know that you had to pay for things in the market!

Aladdin ©Disney

Elsa

As much as we want the leading ladies from Frozen to be on the well-adjusted side of this list, we just can’t put them there in good conscience. For starters, Elsa’s idea of dealing with her problems is to lock herself inside and ignore everyone. She’s not very good at making friends or opening up to other people. She’s the proof we need that quarantine that lasts for years on end can have some harsh side effects!

Anna

And as far as Anna goes, let’s be honest…this girl is a train wreck. She finally gets to go outside, and within a day, she’s engaged to the first man she meets. She then goes traipsing through the wilderness with another strange man without any plan, provisions, or any idea what she’s doing! It seems like she makes very rash decisions — we wouldn’t trust her with the internet.

Cinderella

Poor, naive Cinderella. She means well, but homegirl would get walked all over in today’s world. She would be one of those people who just can’t say “no” when they’ve got too much on their plate. Plus, she’d probably lose most of her valuable possessions. Do you have a friend who can never remember where they left their phone? That’s Cinderella.

Merida

At first glance, Merida seems like the kind of lass who would definitely be okay in the modern age — she’s athletic, independent, and decisive. However, she was pretty easily tricked into turning her mother into a bear, and that doesn’t bode well for life today. She DEFINITELY wouldn’t be reading those terms and conditions, and she’d probably get tricked into a lot of internet scams. Poor Merida.

Now let’s discuss those who would probably do pretty well!

Rapunzel

We were tempted to put Rapunzel on the first part of this list, but the more we thought about it, the more we realized that she actually wouldn’t do too badly today. First of all, she quarantined for 18 years and then came out of that time surprisingly well-adjusted. She was able to make friends right off the bat, and she’s shockingly smart and perceptive for a girl who’s only talked to one other person her entire life!

Moana

Do you know who Moana reminds us of today? That college girl who takes off during the summers and goes backpacking through the mountains. She wouldn’t have any problem getting into hobbies like kayaking, biking, and rock climbing, and she’d definitely have an Instagram account filled with #wanderlust.

Raya

Speaking of girls who are great in the outdoors, let’s talk about Raya. She would 100% outlast everyone else in an apocalyptic scenario and she’d probably teach some kind of self-defense class in her spare time. Raya would also be great at making friends and would probably throw great parties — she’s the kinda person we’d want to hang out with!

Mulan

Not convinced that Mulan would survive in today’s world? Well, she went to war without any prior skills or training, went undercover as a man for several weeks without anyone finding out, and she defeated the Huns! What more proof do you need that she’s a BOSS?! She seems like a woman who has a lot of great skills, and even if she’s not good at something, she’ll work until she is. She could take on 2021 for SURE.

Pocahontas

First of all, Pocahontas would be an excellent park ranger or environmentalist. Second of all, she befriended someone who was her enemy and in the process, stopped an all-out war. That’s the kind of peacekeeping skill we need in the world today!

Pocahontas ©Disney

Tiana

Of all the ladies on this list, Tiana is probably the one who would be the MOST successful these days. She’s a hard worker and she knows how to hustle, plus she’s great at saving money. And when it’s time to party, the girl can dance and sing like nobody’s business. We’re willing to bet she’d be a lot of fun at karaoke!

The Princess and the Frog ©Disney

Belle

Belle is a strong, independent woman, so we’re confident that she’d thrive in society today. She’s well-read, not afraid to be different, and knows exactly what she wants. Belle is able to see the good in people, but she also doesn’t take any flack from those who aren’t worth her time (ahem, Gaston). And even though she’s an outcast, she’s perfectly content just being herself!

  1. First of all, Elsa, Anna, and Raya are not official disney princesses. Also, “Pocahontas” definitely takes place in the 17th century, “Mulan” is during the Chinese Han Dynasty (4th-6th century), “The Princess and the Frog” (Tiana) is in 1926, “Brave” (Merida) is like in the 12th century, and Moana is like 3,000 years ago (1000 BC). The rest of the Disney princess movies should take place in the present, it’s just that most of them are fairy tales, which is why some surreal things happen in the stories. More detailed info:

Snow White: Since this was a 1937 film, this girl was born in 1922, because we know that she was 14 when she started living in the dwarfs’ cottage, ate the poison apple, and came back to life a year later, which means she was already 15 when the prince woke her up.

Cinderella: Since this is a 1950 film and the girl is 19 years old, she was born in 1931.

Aurora: Since the princess falls asleep when she is 16 and wakes up a year later, when she is 17, she was born in 1942, since “The Sleeping Beauty” is a 1959 film.

Ariel: The Little Mermaid is a 1989 film, but Ariel has a 12-year-old daughter in the second movie, which aired in 2000, which means she gave birth to her in 1988. Ariel is 16 in the first movie, which means she was born in 1972.

Belle: The Beauty and the Beast is a 1991 film, and the girl is 17, which means she was born in 1974.

Jasmine: Aladdin is a 1992 film, and Jasmine is 15, which means she was born in 1977. (She didn’t know that you have to pay at the market because she had never been outside of the palace walls and doesn’t know much about the outside world; no one had taught her much about it.)

Rapunzel: She is 18 years old in 2010, which means she was born in 1992.

  2. I don’t like all the disrespect to some of the classic Disney Princesses!!!! That is not Cool!!!!!!👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
