Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Rooms Will Look DIFFERENT When Hotel Reopens!

Believe it or not, Disney World is still in the process of reopening its resorts all around the property!

While the DVC rooms at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge have already reopened (and we recently stayed at one of the Copper Creek offerings!), the main hotel of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort will be reopening on June 6th! And it looks like when the main rooms reopen, they’ll be doing so with a different look!

Looking at the Walt Disney World page for the Wilderness Lodge Resort, you can check out a sneak peek inside the newly refurbished resort rooms! There is more of a sleeker atmosphere with tree artwork…

A desk area and chair are provided in the room, where the desk apparently looks like it can pull out into a table!

The bathroom area has a vanity with lights behind the mirror and a pull-out make-up mirror…

You can see that the old rooms had more of a rustic, colorful theme compared to the modernized version of the previous Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort rooms.

After we talked to a Cast Member, they confirmed that these rooms have been refurbished during the closure. Right now, the Cast Member has said that the newly refurbished rooms should be available by the time of reopening on June 6th.

  1. I like the room idea, but I am noticing the lack of carpet with the room refurbishments in the resorts. I prefer carpet when I get out of bed because of my painful inherited neuropathy. I understand it though (they can keep it clean). I agree with another writer that the castle looks better white. Some speculated that they painted it pink to go with the opening of Disney movies. Painting seemed to be a priority this year. Laying off many cast members and worrying about repainting signs and the castle. And that’s all I will say about that.

  2. I have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge 15 times since it first opened in 1994. I loved the original furnishings and even liked the second refurbishment, but this latest room renovation looks more like something from the Contemporary. So many of Disney’s properties are looking generic. To me, it all started when the refillable mugs were no longer themed to the actual hotels. The mugs became the same whether you stayed at the Wilderness Lodge, the Grand Floridian, The Poly, etc. And since I’m on a roll, I may as well say that I’m not crazy about the Castle’s new colors.I realize they coordinate with the overall ombre scheme for the 50th Anniversary, but I suppose I just prefer the old-school classics. I guess I’m finally old!

  3. Yet more generic room refurbishments. I am so disappointed in Disney and all their updates. The only reason I loved staying on property was to be immersed in Disney and I loved all the different room themes. Now I might as well be staying at a bog standard hotel chain. I really hate this new makeover it is just drab and awful.I was considering staying here for our next visit because the foyer area is so beautiful but those new rooms do nothing for me at all so I will ditch that idea. Looks like The Polynesian is beckoning, the new Moana rooms are truly beautiful and what I want to see from Disney.
