When you step into Pandora, it feels like you’re literally transported into the world of Avatar with floating mountains, bioluminescent features, and gorgeous plant life.

And, we’ve got some HUGE news for fans of the hit Avatar film that will make you appreciate its popularity even more.

Deadline has confirmed that James Cameron’s Avatar has officially become the highest-grossing film of all time once again! In the early hours of Saturday morning, the movie began to take its spot as the top global box office film over Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame (which overtook Avatar back in 2019).

After Chinese movie theaters re-released Avatar on Friday, it earned an additional $12.3 million that pushed it just above Avengers: Endgame. Now, Avatar‘s worldwide gross is an estimated $2.802 billion compared to Avengers: Endgame‘s $2.797 billion.

Marvel Studios congratulated the team who worked on Avatar with a message on Twitter that features the Avengers “A” transformed into an Avatar overlay.

Avatar producer Jon Landau commented on the occasion, stating, “We are proud to reach this great milestone, but Jim and I are most thrilled that the film is back in theaters during these unprecedented times, and we want to thank our Chinese fans for their support. We are hard at work on the next Avatar films and look forward to sharing the continuation of this epic story for years to come.”

James Cameron has already been working on the sequels alongside Disney with Avatar 2 scheduled for December 16th, 2022; Avatar 3 for December 20th, 2024; Avatar 4 for December 18th, 2026; and Avatar 5 for December 22nd, 2028. Stay tuned to AllEars for more Disney news!
