Whenever we’re in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the beauty of Pandora pulls us in every time.

And, if you’re a huge Avatar fan, you’re going to want to listen up to the latest news on the popular film!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Avatar will be receiving a country-wide re-release in China this upcoming Friday! Movie theaters will be playing James Cameron’s hit film in both 3D and IMAX 3D for viewers to feel like they’ve stepped into the world of Pandora.

Even though it’s exciting to see a fan-favorite movie like Avatar on the big screen again, the re-release could actually have huge effects on the box office. When Avengers: Endgame premiered, it scored the spot as the highest-grossing movie ever. But, Avatar coming back to theaters could bump the Marvel movie to second place as the film reclaims this title.

Avengers: Endgame grossed over $2.797 billion with Avatar close behind at $2.790 billion. So, the film would only need to make $7.4 million to secure the spot once again as the highest-grossing box office movie ever! Last March, China’s Film Bureau wanted to re-release the popular film. Yet, the pandemic caused to movie’s return to theaters to be delayed until now as the digital cinema packages (DCPs) had already been completed last year.

The re-release could be bumped by another week or two as the China Film Group distributor has asked for a bit more time to prepare. But, at the moment, the date is still set for March 12th.
