Although airports have seen a shift with new TSA requirements and PPE machines, there’s a whole new line of ELECTRIC JETS that will be coming soon to fly travelers around Florida.

We feel like we could be in Tron or the Guardians of the Galaxy after seeing the new fleet of electric jet aircrafts that Lilium has started to build. According to Click Orlando, the Munich-based company has created vertical take-off and landing aircrafts that can fly within a 186-mile radius for a quick trip.

And, now Lilium has decided to build its first U.S. Vertiport for its vertical take-off aircrafts at Orlando’s Aerotropolis in Lake Nona! The Vertiport will be co-designed and constructed by Tavistock before receiving approval from the Federal Aviation Administration. However, the Lilium jet has been certified under the European Aviation Safety Agency and the FAA.

Lilium has stated that the flights will be competitively placed compared to high-speed trains or red-eye flights as well as being “considerably faster.” Guests will be able to travel from places like Orlando to Tampa in under an hour with a single charge.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has stated that “For this new technology to truly reshape the transportation ecosystem and benefit Orlando residents long-term, it is going to take a true partnership between cities, developers and transportation operators. We have been focused on finding the right partners to be a global leader in the advanced air mobility space. I’m thrilled that our progressive and collaborative environment has created an opportunity for this unique partnership between the City of Orlando, Lilium, and Lake Nona to invest in the expansion of safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly transportation options throughout one of the fastest-growing regions in the country.”
