Cookies With a Side of Mystery — Check Out the Backstory of Gideon's Bakehouse in Disney Springs

We have been eagerly awaiting the opening of Gideon’s Bakehouse’s Disney Springs location ever since it was announced that their delicious cookies would be coming to Disney World!

Our dreams have been full of visions of giant cookies, cakes, and more. Now, we’ve gotten a little insight into some of the backstory and characters that will be involved in the overall theme of this new location!

In Disney World, everything, down to the design of the trash cans you see, plays a part in or fits into the theme of the overall story of the land, park, attraction, or area you’re in.

It seems Gideon’s Bakehouse will be incorporating that same focus on storytelling into their Disney Springs location. Today, via Instagram, Gideon’s shared some of the story behind their upcoming Disney Springs location.

As you walk past their Disney Springs spot, you’ll notice that there’s a sign on the outside of the building that reads “Lindwurm Bookseller.”

According to Gideon’s, during their construction process, they did some demolition and discovered “a vintage ledger with an old daguerreotype of the shop’s original owner” in a small gap within a brick wall.

It appears the name of the shop’s original owner was Jonathan Lindwurm, and Lindwurm was “a purveyor of rare books and antiquities.”

Gideon’s indicated that more of the story behind this mysterious character will unfold in their Disney Springs location. We can’t wait to learn more as we munch away on some of their signature giant (and incredibly delicious) cookies!

According to their post on Instagram, Gideon’s doesn’t yet have an opening date for their Disney Springs location. We’ll keep checking to see when their opening date is announced. Come back for more updates about this spot and other Disney news!
