“Masscared MuppetVision.” Fans Have THOUGHTS on Disney’s MuppetVision 3D Replacement Announcement

At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event this weekend, Disney finally announced what will be replacing Muppet*Vision 3D.

Welcome to Monstropolis is a theatrical show that will welcome guests to Monstropolis, featuring a brand-new song by Randy Newman. While most Disney fans are excited for the new land, Muppets fans still have a LOT of thoughts!

The most-liked negative comment was “The most iconic final Henson production is getting replaced by some boring welcome show with characters from…checks notes…monsters university? 💀,” said @futureworldphotography. Sentiment for the Muppets was strong in the comments, with @oahh.gabriel commenting, “JUSTICE FOR MUPPETVISION!”

“Are they about to put a Monsters, Inc. show in the carcass of MuppetVision 🫩,” @graveofdirt commented. “Oh hey, it’s the thing that massacred MuppetVision 3D,” @mitch_tansell wrote. @elliotelliotvitale had a less gory take with “How dare they sit where Bean Bunny sat!”

“I can’t believe they shut down MuppetVision 3D… just for this,” @benthetoondude commented. “Had to sacrifice Muppets for a franchise with much less aura,” @sdghamsters added. “The new show ‘Put that thing back where it came from,'” @willwheeler2014 commented, referencing the Monsters, Inc. quote.

Some commenters were mourning the show, like @mrskaylav__ who wrote “Not in the muppet vision 3d theater…. 🥺🥺🥺” “I can’t even look at that theater without thinking about the muppets 😢,” @samantha.dark0 commented. @littrellharrison added, “*sigh*…. rest in peace, Muppet*Vision….”

Some even question if Disney cares about The Muppets. “At this point, just sell The Muppets to someone who actually cares about them cause cleary you don’t, Disney,” @_.sanism1996._ commented.

@thisisthejae commented that “replacing the balconies with actual animatronics with screens is such a tragic decision.” While multiple comments shared this sentiment, Disney has not confirmed or denied whether Welcome to Monstropolis will feature animatronics, screens, or a mix of both.

But some Disney fans are criticizing Welcome to Monstropolis for a different reason. @nickhautman commented, “No Boo?!” The iconic Monsters, Inc. character will be featured in the door coaster, but is not seen in the Welcome to Monstropolis concept art.
