REVIEW: Tater Tot Bowls Just Got BETTER in Magic Kingdom

Here at AllEars, we take our Disney World food very seriously — like SUPER seriously. So when we go out to try a snack, we really want to figure out if it’s worth your time and money.

Let’s go eat!

We’re heading to Magic Kingdom and the Grand Floridian Resort to check out some new snacks to see if you should add them to your must-try list.

Starting us off, we’re going to The Friar’s Nook in Magic Kingdom. We grabbed the Barbecue Pork Tot Bowl, which is topped with cheddar, pickles, and cilantro, for $11.49.

Barbecue Pork Tot Bowl

We usually love the tater tot bowls here, and today was no exception. It was a fairly big portion for the price, which makes it easy to share, and we enjoyed the ratio of pork and toppings to tots. The pork was tender and mixed with the melted cheese until it was perfectly gooey and contrasted well with the crispy tots, which held their texture despite the barbecue sauce. The sauce wasn’t overly sweet and had a bit of tanginess, and this might be one of our favorite lunch options in Magic Kingdom.

Crispy tots

We also went to Columbia Harbour House to try the Maple-Mustard Chicken Strips with crispy garlic and green onions for $12.99. We’ve gotten the Maple-Mustard Glazed Salmon before, so we were excited to see it make its way to chicken strips.

Maple Mustard Chicken Strips

The strips were tender and your classic and beloved chicken tenders you can find across Disney World. It wasn’t overly sweet, and we enjoyed the bit of dry heat that came through. It’s more like a sweet Dijon mustard than a honey mustard, and while we didn’t really taste the crispy garlic, it added a fun crunch on top that we enjoyed. If you want something fairly familiar but with a twist, this can be a great option, but pickier eaters will want to stick with the plain version.

Fair amount of toppings

After Magic Kingdom, we went to Gasparilla Island Grill, which is at the Grand Floridian Resort. We started with the Coconut-Raspberry Cake for $6.49, which is a coconut cake with raspberry buttercream and is plant-based.

Coconut Raspberry Cake

This was…not our favorite. It was on the dry side, and the icing was almost bitter, and the raspberry jelly was very sour. We’re not sure if we just got a weird batch or if that was the vibe the chefs were going for, but it’s not the most subtle cake, and we would probably opt for something else next time.

It’s really pretty though!

We also grabbed the Chocolate Chip Cookie for $4.79, which can also be called the Signature Cookie if you see that listed.

Signature Cookie

While we’re skipping that cake, we are not skipping this cookie! This was a total home run. It was super gooey, which maintains that crunchy outside, and we’ve had so many good Disney World cookies lately, we’re hoping we feel this way forever. The chocolate was semi-sweet, so it wasn’t overly sugary, and it almost reminded us of a brownie with the melty inside and the crispy edges.

Look at that inside!
