7 Important Rules to Know Before Visiting EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion

Of all of EPCOT’s World Showcase pavilions, Mexico might be the most unique thanks to its nearly fully indoor, climate-controlled perpetual twilight pyramid environment.

However, that uniqueness brings with it some unique “rules” that guests should follow to make the best of the start (or the end?) of their trip around the world.

Don’t Skip the Art Gallery

While it can be tempting to rush through the pyramid’s entrance to get right into the pavilion, the art exhibition in the lobby is worth exploring. The exhibition of authentic Mexican artwork provides a vibrant cultural display that sets the stage for the experience within.

Don’t Skip the Festival Booth

If you find yourself at EPCOT during one of EPCOT’s festivals — like the Food & Wine Festival, the Festival of the Holidays, the Festival of the Arts, and the Flower & Garden Festival — be sure to stop by EPCOT’s festival booth, as it’s usually one of our Best of the Fest!

Take Time to find the Best Under-the-Radar Souvenirs in Plaza de los Amigos.

The Mexico pavilion offers a litany of handcrafted items on sale in the Plaza de los Amigos marketplace, including wooden figurines, clothing, musical instruments, and our personal favorite: Colorful glass skulls celebrating Día de los Muertos, AKA the Day of the Dead.

You Can Get Your La Cava Drinks to Go

Offering over 200 tequilas, top-shelf cocktails, as well as a selection of Mexican beer and wine,  La Cava del Tequila has become a go-to spot for many Disney Adults planning to “Drink Around the World” since it opened in 2009.

Outside La Cava

La Cava’s space is quite small, and waiting for a table can get quite LONG. However, you can get your drinks from the bar to go.

Ride Gran Fiesta Tour BEFORE… Imbibing at La Cava

Speaking of La Cava, make sure you take your ride on Gran Fiesta Tour BEFORE imbibing at La Cava. While the Three Caballeros-themed boat ride is slow-moving without any drops or other thrilling moments, it still doesn’t mesh well with tequila. Trust me on that one.

Gran Fiesta Tour

Don’t underestimate Gran Fiesta Tour

The aforementioned Gran Fiesta Tour — which began life as the EPCOT opening day attraction El Rio De Tiempo — usually has a pretty light wait time. However, during heavier periods, including EPCOT’s festivals and busy Holidays, the line can grow exponentially long, sometimes spreading all the way outside the pavilion and wrapping around several times.

Don’t Skip La Hacienda de San Ángel

While the vast majority of the Mexico Pavilion is located inside the pyramid, La Hacienda de San Angel sits across from the main structure, right on the shores of the World Showcase Lagoon.

Inside La Hacienda de San Angel

The restaurant offers a selection of premium margaritas, as well as authentic Mexican cuisine like Enchiladas de Chorizo, which includes corn tortillas filled with plant-based chorizo and topped with beans, Ranchera salsa, Monterey Jack cheese, crema Mexicana, cotija cheese, and crispy onions, served with a side of plantains, also topped with crema Mexicana and cotija cheese.
