REVIEW: We Ate the NEW Menu at This Animal Kingdom Restaurant — Should You?

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to some of our absolute favorite dining options in all of the Disney World parks, and we’ve been eagerly awaiting the reopening of Harambe Market.

Harambe Market Spread!

This spot has been closed since October 20th, and we were expecting it to open on February 5th. However, we were pleasantly surprised when we took a look today, February 2nd, and noticed it had soft opened early! So, in true “us” fashion, we headed straight over to give it a try and see if it’s worth a stop on your next visit!

This spot features some new menu offerings we knew we wanted to try out, both in terms of food AND drinks! It’s tucked away in the Africa section of the park, and some people don’t even realize it’s a spot to eat, but there are multiple options available on the menu.

Harambe Market is back open!

Now that Restaurantosaurus is closed in DinoLand U.S.A. (well, the entirety of the land is closed to make way for Tropical Americas), some of the menu offerings from that restaurant have now made their way over to Harambe Market. This spot is MUCH smaller than Restaurantosaurus, and is mostly outside, so it’s a very different spot to eat, but hey, we’re glad that some of these menu offerings aren’t just disappearing!

Some of the menu options have now moved over here!

We started things off with the Chicken Strips for $10.99, which are served with fries.

Chicken Strips

These are your standard Disney World chicken strips — nothing special, but nothing to complain about either. They’re juicy, meaty, and have a nice breading on the outside. The fries were classic Disney World fries as well, but we do recommend grabbing some condiments to make them more exciting, if you’d like. We do LOVE that they’re priced at $10.99, though, because that’s a great deal for a meal!

Yum!

We also tried the Savanna Salad for $11.99, which is Mixed Greens, Lentils, Carrots, Couscous, Kachumbari, Toasted Almonds, and Citrus-Harissa Dressing.

Savanna Salad

We enjoyed that the dressing on here had a nice zing to it, and almost reminded us of 1000 Island dressing, but again, it was nothing to really rave about. Now, due to the flavors in here, this will be a little more for adventurous eaters, especially because of the mix of textures, so it may not be for everyone!

It may not be for everyone!

For dessert, we snagged the Kubwa Cookie for $5.29, which is topped with Chocolate Cream Cookies, Potato Chips, M&M’S® Milk Chocolate candies, and Dulce de Leche.

Kubwa Cookie

This is certainly a hodgepodge of all you may want in a cookie, and it works well together! It may not be for everyone, but if you enjoy sweet and salty together, you’ll probably be a fan. However, we do think you can find some more interesting treats at Zuri’s Sweets Shop, just a few steps away!

Sweet and salty!

Finally, we had to grab the Watermelon Lemonade for $6.29.

Watermelon Lemonade

This is a VERY sweet lemonade, it doesn’t have much of that classic sour flavor to it. It’s almost as if you took a watermelon Jolly Rancher and dropped it into a super sweet lemonade. Overall, the flavor is great if you’re someone who enjoys sweet drinks, but we were a little disappointed with the size.

It’s a little small!
