Disney World is ALL about change right now, but that was always kind of what Walt Disney himself always envisioned. However, it seems like a lot of the biggest changes coming to the theme parks are happening RIGHT NOW. There are new lands and expansions coming to the parks, plus several rides are getting some serious updates.
That’s not all, though. Several entertainment options in Magic Kingdom have changed as of January 28th, so we wanted to make sure you’re aware of those.
Cinderella Castle is about to undergo a massive transformation, losing its pink hues for its more traditional silvers and blues. That means some things in Magic Kingdom will be changing. First, the moat around the castle will be drained so that the equipment needed for the repainting can be put into place.
While this is going on, including the actual painting, several entertainment experiences in Magic Kingdom are changing. That includes Magic Kingdom’s Let The Magic Begin welcome show, which happens on the Cinderella Castle stage every morning just before the park’s official opening. That show will not be happening during the castle’s repainting. However, you will still hear the welcome fanfare and music from the show.
Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire is another show that takes place on the Cinderella Castle main stage. As of now, there are no showtimes for the mornings, and you’ll have to catch the show in the afternoons at 1 PM, 2:05 PM, 4 PM, and 5:15 PM.
Magic Kingdom’s nighttime parade, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, is adding a second show in the evenings. You can now see the parade at 7:45 PM and 10 PM. Note that the show used to have two showings, so it’s just reverting back to that schedule.
Finally, you can expect some changes to Magic Kingdom’s nighttime fireworks show, Happily Ever After. Some of the projections on Cinderella Castle will probably be changed while painting of the castle is underway.
The Cinderella Castle repainting will start today, January 28th, with work expected to be completed in late 2026, so until it’s finished, these changes will probably remain in effect. You’ll want to check the My Disney Experience app, though, for more details and showtimes.
