For the first time in forever, Disney is closing the dates! That’s right, if you were hoping to head into Arendelle over in EPCOT, you’re going to have to wait a little while longer.

Frozen Ever After has officially closed in Disney World for a major refurbishment that fans have been begging for for years. If you’re headed to the park anytime soon, don’t be caught unaware!
Frozen Ever After is getting a major upgrade! The popular ride has officially closed for the ride’s changes, but luckily, it won’t be closed for too long. We stopped by the park to check out the changes to the attraction.

The hugely popular ride first opened in 2016, and it’s had long lines ever since. In recent years, a new version of the attraction has been added to Hong Kong Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris is getting a new version in the upcoming Disney Adventure World. If it’s so popular, what’s changing about it? The animatronics are getting an update!

In EPCOT’s version, the animatronics ‘ faces are projected onto their bodies, which was revolutionary when it debuted. Hong Kong Disneyland’s version debuted with a new version of the animatronics that went viral because of its high-tech changes.

EPCOT’s Frozen Ever After will be replacing its current versions with the new Audio-Animatronics that resemble Hong Kong Disneyland’s! That means the projected faces will become more lifelike. The ride is expected to reopen in February 2026, so you won’t be without Elsa and her snow powers for too long.

The ride’s exit store is still open if you want to shop for any Frozen merchandise. We will say that those doors were firmly locked, despite what we think Anna would want.

One thing we do think that’s very cool about this closure is that the water fall outside of the ride is turned off. This sword, which is typically covered by the fall, is a nod to the original ride that was located in the Norway pavilion, Maelstrom. This is something that major theme park fans can appreciate! A small silver lining to the closure, if you will.

We are so excited to see what changes are in store for this ride, and we’re selfishly hoping the refurbishment will go quickly. Be sure to keep following AllEars for more reminders, updates, news, and more from the people in the parks every day.
