"You Had Me at $7 Margaritas" — A Special Event Is Coming to Disney Springs This Weekend

While many people celebrate Halloween around this time of year, there’s another holiday many around the world celebrate in addition to, or instead of, Halloween, and that’s Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead)!

If you head into the Mexico Pavilion in EPCOT, you’ll find a tribute to Día de Los Muertos year-round, and it’s a wonderful way to learn about the holiday. Or, you can also watch Pixar’s animated film Coco! If you’re looking to celebrate Day of the Dead in Disney World this weekend, here’s why you should head straight to Disney Springs!

Frontera Cocina, a spot that often lands at the top of our list in Disney Springs thanks to its delicious offerings and large menu, just announced its Día de Los Muertos special event happening from October 31st to November 2nd.

A DJ will be there playing music on all three days from 6-10 PM each night, Mariachis will be there on November 1st and 2nd from 12-3 PM! The best part for many food fans, though, may be the $7 Classic Margaritas you can grab ALL weekend!

What is Día de Los Muertos, you may ask? This is a holiday traditionally celebrated for many days on November 1st and 2nd each year that reunites the living and the dead. Family members create offerings to honor their relatives who have passed on. Offerings are oftentimes the departed family member’s favorite drinks and foods, as well as yellow marigold flowers. This isn’t a sad holiday, though, as it’s believed these offerings encourage visits from the land of the dead, so the souls no longer on Earth can hear their family’s prayers, smell their favorite foods, and join in on the celebration.
