If you’re heading to Epic Universe, there are a few shoe rules you need to know,

Let’s get into it!
1. Wear Comfortable Shoes
Epic Universe is HUGE! You’re going to be doing a lot of walking from the gates through each different portal — you’ll want to come prepared. You will need shoes that can handle those kinds of miles!

The Hoka Clifton 10s are our favorite tennis shoes in the parks. They are focused on daily training and walking, which is exactly what you’ll need for the parks. We aren’t running marathons in Epic Universe, but you do need to be able to walk several miles, even if you aren’t doing a full park day. These shoes offer the most comfort and support I’ve ever had from any tennis shoe in or out of the parks.
New Balance Oxford Sneakers are also a beloved classic shoe for theme parks.

With these, you’ll find the support and structure you want in a shoe, but also breathability. When you are walking up to 10 miles a day, these are the shoes you’ll want to have on your feet!
2. Choose the Right Sandals
With all the walking you’ll do at Epic Universe, your feet need to be supported. If you are the type of person who usually wears flip flops to theme parks (yes, we have reporters who do!), then you’ll want to wear a supportive, adjustable sandal!

The Chaco Sandal is a great option for theme parks. They give you more support than your average flip-flop. If you want your feet to breathe during the hot day, these are great with multiple straps to keep your foot in place.
Or you can grab another pair of adjustable sandals that we love, like these from Teva.

These Teva sandals offer “quick-dry webbing” made from recycled plastic using traceable, verifiable polyester yarn that “supports your foot and stands up to abuse” as well as a “Universal Strapping System” that features multiple points of adjustability for a “perfect” fit.
3. Prepare to Get Wet
The rainy season in Florida is basically a lifestyle, not an event. And Epic Universe? Not exactly bursting with covered spaces. That, plus, if you are planning to ride Fyre Drill, be prepared for some wet shoes. We suggest either bringing another pair to change into or going with sandals, like the ones above, to change into!

We also love these Shoe Covers from Amazon to keep our feet dry!

Our reporter has tested these out in the parks and loves them! The shoe covers were surprisingly easy to put on — they stretch right over your shoes and zip up with ease. We would recommend going toe-first to make it easier, though. The rain was coming in sideways, and she barely cared. She didn’t have to avoid puddles or tiptoe around wet spots. Her shoes and socks were protected, and she could enjoy the parks without dreading the rainy weather.
