In case you missed the news, there’s a new Universal theme park in Orlando called Epic Universe. The park is, well, epic, and that compliment extends to the dining options, too. But what’s worth your time here, and where should you eat? Well, let’s head to the Harry Potter section of the park for a quick meal to see what’s on the menu!

Over in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic, there are fewer dining options than other areas of the park, but that doesn’t mean they’re not worth visiting! The quick service restaurant in this area of the park is Le Gobelet Noir, but is this tucked-away spot really worth the trek? We found out!
Starting off strong, we grabbed the Herb Crusted Cod for $19.99, which is cod, potatoes, caramelized leeks, in a creamy broth. This is lighter than many of the other dishes served here, but we’ll be honest, we were surprised by how much we enjoyed it! If you’re a fan of fish and want something light on your park day, this is a good choice. Remember, this is a quick-service restaurant (not a typical table service meal), so this level of quality is pretty amazing for a quick-service meal!

Then came the Jagerschnitzel, which is a crispy pork cutlet, brown mushroom gravy, and tavern frites. You can get it for $17.99. This was thin, crispy, and not greasy at all. The mushroom gravy on top is your standard gravy, and there weren’t many mushrooms in it at all. As for the fries, they’re steak-cut fries, fluffy on the inside and well-salted on the outside — we’re big fans!

Next up was the Knödel Soup and Salad Combo for $13.99, which is rich chicken broth with knödel, roasted chicken, and herb brioche croutons, served with a house greens salad drizzled in Champagne vinaigrette. Honestly, this was like a chicken and dumpling soup, and while we didn’t dislike it, we did find it to be an interesting choice for a theme park restaurant — especially a quick service spot.

We also grabbed the Coq Au Vin for $17.99, which features a red wine-marinated bone-in chicken breast, mushrooms, pancetta, pearl onions, and pommes purée. The chicken here was a little dry, but it was still flavored nicely and perfectly salted. The vegetables on top were enhanced by the bacon; the mashed potatoes were creamy and well-seasoned, but we failed to pick up on the red wine marinade.

Next up was the Ancient Forest Salad for $12.99, which is kale, arugula, frisée, cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, and beets drizzled in an herb vinaigrette. This is a sweeter salad, so if you’re not a fan of that, this may not be your jam. Additionally, there’s no protein in this salad, so we don’t really think it would fuel you well for your park day.

Finally, it was time for dessert! The $6.99 Baklava here is made with pistachio, walnuts, vegan anglaise, and coconut nectar. This is an unusual type of baklava — the phyllo is not as crispy as expected, and it has MORE pistachio than we anticipated. It is served on top of some vanilla icing glaze, which is fine, but overall, there are many more desserts in the park that we recommend more.

Overall, we think this is certainly a solid dining spot in the park, but we do find it strange that these dining options are pretty elevated for a quick service location, yet none of these dishes at a fine dining spot would hit the way they should. If you’re looking for some fantastic AC, though, this is the place to go!
