5 Disney World Food Scams People Are Still Falling For

Disney World offers so many food options that it can all be a bit overwhelming for guests, to the point where some fall for the same “scams” over and over again.

Treats!

Whether it’s overpaying for snacks that are available elsewhere, missing fine print on a menu that can lead to savings, there are several Disney food mistakes that guests KEEP making over and over.

Pre-Packaged Snacks

Whether it’s snacks that are available outside the parks (Have you ever checked the price of KitKat at a Disney hotel gift shop vs how much it costs outside the Disney bubble?) to those made within the parks (Why would someone go for prepackaged “Crisped Rice” treat instead of a freshly made one?), many guests will pay inflated prices for these prepackaged snack options.

Paying More at Some Locations

Did you know that you can find similar foods at different Disney locations, with some being much more expensive than others? For example, you can find options very similar to those at the Boardwalk’s Cake Bake Shop at EPCOT’s Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie.

Beautiful and delicious!

You Can Say No to Souvenir Cups

As you’re surely aware, there are many drinks across Walt Disney World that are sold with a souvenir cup or a glowing ice cube, which guests can take home. However, did you know you can get these drinks for less, WITHOUT the souvenir element, for less money?

Souvenir cups cost EXTRA!

These options can be a bit buried on the menu, but they’re there and are a good way to save, especially if you’re ordering a drink that you’ve gotten previously and already own the souvenir cup.

The Basics

Now, let’s preface this by saying there’s nothing wrong with the basics in theory. For example, a plain Mickey pretzel can be a delight. However, many guests don’t realize that there are often fancier – and frankly better – options located nearby.

To return to the Mickey Pretzel example, you can get one in EPCOT, but remember that the Germany Pavilion offers their iconic – and much larger – pretzels in the same park,

Pizza Flyers

Alright, this final entry crosses over from “scam” to SCAM.

It’s a pizza

If you’ve ever stayed at a Disney Hotel, you may have found a flyer for local pizza slipped under your door. Given Disney’s less-than-stellar current late-night food offerings, it can seem awfully tempting to call and order a pizza….

DON’T DO IT.

These types of flyers are often used to scam unsuspecting travelers of credit card information. Instead, we’d recommend going through a restaurant chain you already know or an app like Door Dash to satiate your late-night craving.
