If you are planning a trip to Disney World or Universal Orlando, you’ve probably got most of the trip figured out, except maybe how you’re getting to Orlando.

For most folks, traveling to Orlando means flying to Orlando International Airport or Orlando Sanford International Airport. However, flying to Orlando could get a bit more difficult because some airlines, including JetBlue, are cutting back on routes.
According to Fox Business, JetBlue will be cutting flights soon due to weaker travel demand in the U.S. The airline is engaging in some new cost-cutting measures, including getting rid of some flights, due to the current state of the economy and low customer confidence, which has led to less demand for flying.

According to JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty, the airline doesn’t expect to break even in the fiscal year of 2025. JetBlue hasn’t posted an annual profit since 2020. In 2024, the airline attempted to merge with Spirit Airlines in a $3.8 billion deal, but the merger was rejected by a federal judge who cited that the merger would hurt competition for budget air travel.

In order to cut back on costs, JetBlue will continue to reduce its flying capacity, especially on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in cities where it operates multiple routes. That means you could have fewer options to fly out of those cities through JetBlue on those days.
The airline also said it would be winding down routes that underperform and shift focus to routes that are more profitable. Those changes are expected to be revealed over the next few weeks.

Other cost-cutting measures are also underway at JetBlue. The airline is pausing its plans to restyle some of its A320 classic planes, which will now be parked due to reduced flying schedules. The airline also hopes to boost its efficiency with its leadership.
The good news is that because of lower travel demand, airfares are expected to get even cheaper, so you might not have as many options to fly, but those options might now cost a little less.
