Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is finally reopening at Magic Kingdom after a lengthy closure, and we couldn’t be more excited!
The ride has soft opened early, meaning it may be open if you visit before its officially opening of April 8th, and it may not. When we stopped by to check out the soft opening, we found that the gift shop was open…so let’s step inside and see what has changed!
The official name of the gift shop for this ride is Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Photos, and previously, it was a fairly small and cramped spot where the ride exits, with a moderate selection of Toy Story merchandise.
Construction-wise, the inside of the store has opened up a little bit. The ride photo display wall used to create a bit of a bottleneck, but that has been pushed back to create more room.
Just look how much more open it is, now! Previously, this wall used to jut out at an angle, blocking most of the store from view.
If you’re interested in Toy Story souvenirs, this is your best stop in Magic Kingdom! They’ve got a BUNCH of Buzz Lightyear merchandise…
…as well as sections themed to other characters from the films. Hey howdy hey, Woody!
Toys are the specialty here, but you’ll also find plenty of accessories (like character headbands) and some apparel (like these button-up shirts).
The iconic Zurg jail photo op is still here, as well as the pressed penny machine next to it. That’s one of the cheapest souvenirs you’ll find inside!
Sadly, there wasn’t much new merchandise in the store for the ride reopening. The only thing we spotted was this Buzz Lightyear Baseball Jersey. Which, to be fair, is pretty cool! We have a feeling we’ll be seeing this one as a fashion statement this summer in the parks. It has a #95 on the back to symbolize the year Toy Story was released.
