We Spotted Something NEW at Magic Kingdom BEYOND Big Thunder Mountain

Disney World is going to be CHANGING a lot over the next few years!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

We’ll be seeing changes coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Magic Kingdom. However, we have yet to see too much construction at any of the parks (aside from Test Track’s reimagining over at EPCOT), but now that, too, is changing at Magic Kingdom!

Magic Kingdom will be getting a brand new nighttime parade, two new Cars attractions, and an entire land dedicated to Disney Villains! Fans seem to be especially excited about the new Villains Land, and we completely understand, as many have been asking for this land concept for years.

Villains Land will be added to Magic Kingdom as an expansion beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. We’ve already seen construction netting up on the ride to block the view of guests from seeing what’s going on back there.

While construction for Villains Land has likely begun to some extent, Big Thunder Railroad will be temporarily closing for its own year-long refurbishment on January 6th, 2025. It won’t reopen again until 2026!

A lot of construction will be ongoing in this corner of the park over the next few years, and now we’ve seen a HUGE (literally) update here. We recently spotted a very large crane behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!

There’s no hiding this construction update behind a wall or netting! It’s evident that work is happening, and that makes us SUPER excited.

Since Disney hasn’t made any official announcements, we can’t say with certainty that this has anything to do with Villains Land, but it is likely that construction has begun beyond Big Thunder.
