Can you believe it’s already December?!

We’re currently celebrating the holidays in every Disney World park and at each of the hotels. It’s certainly a festive time of year to be at the Most Magical Place on Earth. But as we celebrate this season, we get closer and closer to the new year. January is just around the corner, and with that comes a couple of new ride closures! Let’s check out what will be closed during your trip in the first month of 2025 so you’re not caught off guard.
Magic Kingdom
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closing for a lengthy refurbishment. The ride officially closes on January 6th and will remain closed until 2026!

The ride is closing for general maintenance and refurbishment, but Disney also noted that when it reopens, it will have “a little bit of new magic.” If you’re traveling to Disney World anytime in 2025 after January 6th, this Frontierland ride will be unavailable. Instead, you can take a trip down the bayou on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure or head over to Adventureland to ride the Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, or The Magic Carpets of Aladdin.
EPCOT
Test Track
Test Track has been in the process of being reimagined into Test Track 3.0!

Construction has been ongoing as Disney creates a new story that will “celebrate today’s innovation while highlighting the past, present, and future.” The new ride will take inspiration from the original World of Motion, an opening day attraction at EPCOT that closed to bring us Test Track. The new ride will open in 2025, but it continues to be on the Disney World refurbishment list through January.
Animal Kingdom
TriceraTop Spin
The first round of permanent closures at DinoLand, U.S.A., in Animal Kingdom begins on January 12th. Included in this first set of closures is TriceraTop Spin.

DinoLand, U.S.A., is permanently closing to make way for the new Tropical Americas Land, Pueblo Esperanza. The new land will include a new Encanto ride, an Indiana Jones ride, and a carousel to celebrate the most bio-diverse parts of the world. If you want to get your last ride on TriceraTop Spin forever, you’ll have to do so before January 12th.

These are the ride closures you can expect at Disney World in January 2025! Of course, Disney makes new announcements all the time, and unexpected temporary closures do happen from time to time. To stay up to date on all the latest Disney news, keep following AllEars!
