Disney enacted a REAL LIFE rescue recently.

The Treasure — the Disney Cruise Line’s newest fleet addition — is themed around adventure, with a massive atrium themed to Aladdin. Recently, while on a journey from Europe to the United States to prepare for its maiden voyage, the ship became involved in a rescue scenario right out of an adventure film.
According to ABC News, the ship rescued four people from a sinking vessel this past weekend. According to the outlet, “the 50-foot catamaran, called the Serenity, was about 230 miles off the coast of Bermuda when a gasket failure in the escape hatch caused the vessel to begin taking on water.”
The Serenity sent out an SOS, which was in turn shared by the U.S. Coast Guard to any ships in the area. The Treasure, which was approximately 80 miles away at the time while making its journey from Eemshaven, Netherlands to Port Canaveral, Florida, sent one of their small boats to rescue the four aboard.

The Treasure’s Captain, Marco Nogara told ABC News in a statement, “We are pleased that the Disney Treasure was able to provide aid to the boat passengers in peril. Our crew members worked together on the rescue, skillfully demonstrating their training and commitment to safety.”

Disney CEO Bob Iger also acknowledged the rescue on his Instagram account, sharing a photo of the treasure as well as a photo of the specific rescue, along with the caption, “Disney Treasure rescued 4 people from a sinking catamaran off Bermuda!”
