NEWS: Lightning Lanes Will Reach Highest Price in MONTHS at Disney World Soon

Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass debuted on July 24th, 2024, and replaced the Genie+ system.

The new system is similar to the old Genie+ system, with a few exceptions. Now, you can book Lightning Lanes ahead of your trip (7 days early if you’re staying at a Disney World or partnering hotel; all other guests three days early). The new system also only requires you to pay for one park for the Multi Pass option (there’s no multi park option like there was with Genie+), then when you park hop you don’t have to pay again. Lightning Lane Single Pass rides still require you to pay for the individual attractions not included with Multi Pass. Since you can book Lightning Lanes in advance, we can see the prices several days ahead, and we have a warning for a few days coming up in October.

We’ve seen two days over the past month that have had the lowest price for Lightning Lane Multi Pass since it switched from Genie+. On September 4th and September 29th, Magic Kingdom‘s Multi Pass option was $20, EPCOT was $15, Hollywood Studios was $20, and Animal Kingdom was $15. These were the lowest prices for each of the parks since July 24th.

Unfortunately, it might be a while before we see those prices again. Starting October 1st, prices begin going up. October 2nd will see a Magic Kingdom price for Multi Pass of $29, which is the highest price since July 25th. Then on October 5th, EPCOT reaches $21, Hollywood Studios hits $26, and Animal Kingdom is $18 (Magic Kingdom continues to be $29). These are the highest prices for the other three parks since July 25th.

From October 5th until October 21st, the prices for the four parks fluctuate about $2 each day but never reach the lowest prices. And on October 21st, the prices skyrocket! Magic Kingdom hits $32, EPCOT is $24, Hollywood Studios $29, and Animal Kingdom $19. These are the highest prices for Lightning Lane since the changeover from Genie+. That same day, October 21st, the Lightning Lane Single Pass prices for TRON ($22), Flight of Passage ($18), and Seven Dwarf Mine Train ($14), reach an all-time high.

Typically, we see Lighting Lane prices increase on days Disney anticipates to be busy, so these prices may be an inkling that October will be a busy month in Disney World.

You don’t need Lighting Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass to still have a great day in Disney World. If you don’t feel like spending the money, stand by lines are available for most of the rides included in Multi Pass (except Tiana’s Bayou Adventure which offers a virtual queue) and for all the Single Pass rides except Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (which offers a virtual queue). It is not required to purchase these add-ons to enjoy the rides at Disney World.
