The Princess and the Frog may have come out in 2009, but 2024 is Tiana’s YEAR.

We’re officially in the same year that the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride will debut, and we can hardly wait! While Disney is still keeping us on the edge of our seats to see more inside the ride or get an opening date, there is a lot we do know about the attraction. That’s what we’re here to chat about today!
Keep reading to see everything (and we mean everything) we know about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland!
Storyline
The ride will pick up right where The Princess and the Frog left off when it comes to Tiana’s story. It starts right “after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.”

The princess reached her goal of opening her own restaurant called Tiana’s Palace (which you can dine at in Disneyland!) and that business has expanded to become Tiana’s Foods. That’s why you’ll see the logo printed on the water tower!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure doesn’t wait until you’re in a ride vehicle — the story will begin in the ride queue. The smell of beignets and the sound of New Orleans jazz will transport you to that world.

Then you’ll reach Tiana’s big Mardi Gras party that she’s throwing. Eventually, Tiana realizes something is missing! Then everyone (including you!) goes on a journey to find that missing ingredient for the big party.
There’s more to the story! Read it here.
Characters
Something unique about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is that you’ll see faces both old and new! Of course, Tiana, Naveen, Mama Odie, and Louis will make appearances with many of the original voice actors returning to reprise their roles. However, there will be some new characters to meet along the way!

Disney revealed that 17 (!!) new characters will be joining the story! They’ll be brand new animatronics in the ride.

We don’t know a ton about the new characters, however, we have met Ralphie — Naveen’s little brother! He’s learning to play the drums. The drums are based on a historical drum set from New Orleans and everything will be accurate to the period in which this ride takes place (the 1920s).

Animatronics
We’re excited about this part, y’all — the animatronics are gonna be SO good! Disney confirmed that the animatronics will be the high-tech creations we’ve seen at the new World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland.

Disney also shared a sneak peek at the Louis animatronic at Destination D23 in 2023. Take a look below!

Height Requirement
Just like Splash Mountain, the height requirement will be 40 inches for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The ride track itself seems to be staying the same (including the big drop) so this was expected!

Disneyland updated its website to include the height requirement in January 2024.
More details on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure height requirement here!
There you have it! These are just the details we have so far, but we’ll continue to keep you updated as Disneyland releases more information. Currently, the attraction is set to open in 2024, so hopefully we’ll get an official opening date soon!
