You’ve probably heard of Club 33 and 1901 Lounge at Disneyland Resort and Disney California Adventure, respectively. These are exclusive clubs that only select Disney fans can access.

Well, today, renovations began on another new club with an exclusive guest list — this time, it’s for Magic Key Holders only!
Work began today on what has been known as Magic Key Terrace, the outdoor seating area above the Golden Vine Winery in Disney California Adventure.

According to the Orange County Register, Disney Imagineering and crews will be transforming the space into a space where Magic Key passholders can “relax and reenergize after a long day” at the theme parks.
This renovation is, in a sense, a continuation of what started as the Alfresco Tasing Terrace, which was a passholder-exclusive bar that opened back in January 2020. This then returned as the Magic Key Terrace when Disney California Adventure reopened in 2021.

As part of the renovations, the Magic Key passholder-exclusive bar and eating space will expand from the terrace on the second floor of the Winery into the former dining room of the Vineyard Room restaurant. This space was previously run by the Robert Mondavi Winery, but ultimately the group turned over operations to Disney in October of 2001. Disney then ran a restaurant in that space until 2008.
The Orange County Register notes that the renovated area will “serve as a hidden respite for annual passholders much like the private, members-only Club 33 at Disneyland and 1901 Lounge at Disney California Adventure.” Disney Imagineer Kim Irvine said that now the Magic Key members will have a “location for them that they [can] call their own.”
Note that Magic Key Terrace won’t have that same “elevated level of service and privileges as Club 33,” but it will be “hidden, private, exclusive, members-only,” and it will be a second-story hangout.

The renovation will include new lighting, furniture, tile work, murals, and more.

Imagineers have even dreamed up a new back story for the spot. According to the updated story, this was a hacienda recently purchased by a couple who wants to keep the old charm while adding more “contemporary touches.”
According to the Orange County Register, the update will keep the plaster walls and hacienda architectural styling, while adding some contemporary colors. There will also be “climbing vines and banana trees” that will “surround a gurgling wall fountain.” There will be floor to ceiling drapes, wrought iron fixtures, and palm trees in large vases.
There will also be a new mural from illustrator Leslee Turnbull.

The Magic Key Terrace will remain open during renovations, but will close in sections and have its capacity reduced occasionally as the renovations continue. The remodel is expected to be complete in late spring.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more updates about this project, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for more!
