VIDEO: Watch the Teaser Trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s NEW ‘Pinocchio’ Movie (Nope, Not the Disney One)

Hollywood has been busy with several new reimaginings of some classic Disney movies. Disney has announced a few upcoming projects, like live-action remakes of The Little Mermaid and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. We’ve also heard about a Pinocchio remake that is coming soon to Disney+.

Get ready for a completely reimagined version of Pinocchio!

With all these new movies on the way, we almost forgot about the other Pinocchio movie premiering later this year (and no, this one is NOT from Disney at all). Now, Netflix has released a teaser for the new movie — let’s take a look!

Before we show you the teaser, let’s talk about the live-action Disney remake coming soon. This version will star Tom Hanks as Geppetto and Luke Evans as The Coachman. Disney’s live-action Pinocchio is directed by Robert Zemeckis.

But, as we mentioned, Disney isn’t the only one diving into the world of Pinocchio. Netflix is also releasing a new Pinocchio movie in December 2022. The Netflix movie is being directed by Guillermo del Toro and will reimagine the classic tale of Pinocchio as a “stop-motion musical adventure,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Expect a star-studded cast in Netflix’s upcoming movie. The Hollywood Reporter shared that stars including David Bradley, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, Ron Perlman, Christoph Waltz, and Tilda Swinton will all voice characters in the film. The new teaser features Sebastian J. Cricket, played by Ewan McGregor.

The movie is set in Italy amid the rise of fascism and is expected to be a story of “love and disobedience as a result of Pinocchio’s struggle to live up to his father’s expectations,” according to THR. You can watch the teaser below.
