Disney is set to bring more live action remakes to the “small screen,” as many of these films originally intended for theaters wound up being rerouted to the streaming service. One of those films headed straight to Disney+ is Pinocchio, and we just got a major casting update!

Deadline has announced that actor Luke Evans has joined the cast of the upcoming live action remake of Pinocchio!

Luke Evans will play the role of The Coachman and joins Tom Hanks, who will play the role of Gepetto. The Coachman is one of the antagonists in the film and was the character who lured young boys to Pleasure Island, where they are then turned into donkeys and sold off. Sounds pretty villainous if you ask us! The film is being directed by Robert Zemeckis.

Luke Evans is no stranger to playing Disney villains! Fans will remember Luke Evans from the live action remake of Beauty and the Beast, where he played Gaston. A prequel series of the classic film is set to launch on Disney+, with Luke Evans and Josh Gad reprising their roles from the film.
