REVIEW: We Just Ate Disney’s PB&J Pancakes, and We Don’t Know How We Lived Without Them

We’ve set sail on the Disney Adventure and are bringing you ALL the latest news and updates!

Navigator’s Club

This new Disney Cruise Line ship can only be boarded in Singapore. It’s the first DCL ship to sail from Singapore’s Marina Bay Cruise Centre and go throughout Southeast Asia. We’re exploring everything there is to see, do, and eat on this ship, and right now, we’re taking you with us to Navigator’s Club Restaurant.

Navigator’s Club Restaurant is themed around the golden era of Hollywood, which reminds us of one of our favorite parks, Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While you eat, you’ll be able to enjoy “musical acts and interactions with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck.” Because we didn’t go during rotational dining, we were not able to get the full experience with characters, but we were able to grab breakfast and lunch here.

The menu

For breakfast, we grabbed the Peanut Butter and Jelly Typhoon, which was the kids’ meal. These pancakes were surprisingly good! It was one giant, thick pancake with peanut butter and strawberry jelly swirled around. It was sweet and comforting and came with a fresh side of fruit. The chicken sausage was okay with not too much flavor, but a decent snap, and the hashbrowns were a little undercooked but still crunchy and savory — but come on, we were definitely here for the pancake!

We also got the Kimchi Fried Rice, which was so delicious. We didn’t plan to eat the entire bowl, but we just about licked it clean. The rice was cooked perfectly, which was a common theme throughout our whole trip, and there was a great amount of kimchi to add an interesting texture and a surprising heat beyond that traditional “Disney spicy.” The egg had that perfect runny yolk that soaked into the rice, making it even better.

For lunch, we started with the New England Clam Chowder. It was on the thinner side but was chock-full of clam bites, potatoes, and herbs. It was flavorful, but probably won’t knock you off your feet if you’ve had a lot of clam chowders in your life.

We also enjoyed the Hainanese Chicken. This is a super popular Singaporean dish, and the chicken was poached well and was super nice and juicy. It came with a ginger garlic sauce, dark soy sauce, and chili sauce. The ginger sauce was light and refreshing, and the dark soy sauce was that perfect level of umami that was delightfully salty. That chili sauce? NO joke. It was spicy! If you’re not used to spice, you might only want to use a little bit or none at all. The bok choy was prepared well, where it was soft but not mushy, and the rice was soft and not overcooked.

We also tried the Chicken Salad, which wasn’t a favorite. It was fairly basic compared to the other foods we tried on board. It was relatively fresh, and the chicken was cooked and moist but not very seasoned.

Finally, we had the Chicken Mulligatawny Soup. This was a win in our books! It was loaded with lentils and was super hearty with big pieces of chicken. It was warm and comforting, and we could have totally eaten a huge serving of this.

Hollywood Spotlight Club is the sister restaurant to Hollywood Spotlight Club, which means that the style of the golden age of Hollywood is very similar. The entertainment offerings are slightly different, as is the menu, but dining at one will give you a very good idea of what the other is like.

It looks really similar to the Navigator’s Club

For rotational dinner dining, you can grab menu items like:

    • Duck Confit Pastilla with filo, saffron, cinnamon, and blackberry
    • Prawns Mumbai Bhel with sweet corn, rice puffs, avocado, cilantro, aïoli, and tamarind
    • Porcini Spiced Ahi Tuna Sashimi with pickled lotus root, oyster mushrooms, black sesame brittle, wasabi, and yuzu mayonnaise
    • Miso Glazed Chilean Sea Bass with baby Napa kimchi

We’ll continue to share EVERYTHING we’re doing on the new Disney Adventure Cruise ship and beyond, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars!
