“It Wasn’t Quite What I Expected.” After 8 Months, What’s the Verdict on This NEW EPCOT Lounge?

Last year, Disney opened a game-changing lounge at EPCOT in the form of GEO-82.

It’s great to have a reliable option at the theme parks!

Located at the back of the park’s iconic Spaceship Earth, the 21+ lounge (a first for a U.S. Disney park) offers a selection of cocktails and appetizers in a setting that’s meant to celebrate “the storied history and enduring legacy of this timeless EPCOT icon.” However, does it succeed in that mission? Let’s find out.

Upon GEO-82’s opening, the lounge attracted a great deal of attention thanks to its adult-only rule and theming to a favorite of many Disney Adults and EPCOT aficionados. As the months have gone by since the eatery’s opening last summer, reviews have continued to pour in from our readers.

For example, at the start of 2026, reader DisneyDiner wrote what, by score, should have been a glowing review of the lounge. It said:

“It was fun taking the elevator up to the lounge. It’s a pretty place. The margarita was very good and reasonably priced. The food being served around me looked good. It was a nice place to start off an Epcot evening.”

So far, so good, right? Complimenting the ambiance, the drinks, and even the appearance of other guests’ food all seem like positives. However, they ended their review with:

“It wasn’t quite what I expected, but nice enough to visit again if I am with someone who hasn’t been there before.”

That got us thinking, if everything was so positive, why would someone need a first timer to justify visiting again? Well, it might come down to the pros and cons of GEO-82.

On the pro side, the lounge does offer an exclusive environment reminiscent of the futurism of early EPCOT, and the drink and small bites menu offers a unique selection with options for various tastes.

In addition, the restaurant provides beautiful views of EPCOT, especially during the nightly fireworks package Luminous (for which GEO-82 offers a special dining package).

Then, there’s the 21+ rule, which can likely be seen as a pro or a con depending on one’s POV. For those in the former camp, the lack of youngsters gives the lounge an adult, relaxing vibe. However, those who see it as the latter see the age limit as excluding one of Disney’s core audiences in concept, and in practice, it makes visiting GEO-82 hard for those visiting the park with their families.

Waiting room

Segwaying into the cons, there is the issue of the lounge’s menu. While we’ll specify again that we like the menu, GEO-82 has hard to gt reservations and prices in line with many of Disney World’s table service restaurants. That can make the actual selections feel light and disappointing to guests expecting a full dining experience.

Speaking of the full experience, GEO-82 has an “unofficial” time limit of about 75 minutes to turn over a guest’s table. While that’s probably enough time to take in the ambiance and enjoy a drink and bite, it can take the “lounging” out of the lounge for some guests.

EPCOT’s GEO-82 lounge has been open for close to a year now, and guest’s still considering the pros and cons of Disney World’s first 21+ lounge. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Disney’s latest offerings.
