The lobby at Disney’s Grand Floridian Hotel and Spa has been under refurbishment for quite some time, but a huge piece of the puzzle is complete and just had its ribbon-cutting ceremony!

The decor in the Grand Floridian Hotel lobby recently transformed, but there were construction walls still up around the new bar coming to the lobby, The Perch. As of November 10th, the bar just had its opening ceremony and is officially available to the public!
The Perch is a subtly themed avian-inspired bar right inside the lobby that serves up wine, cocktails, and champagne, as well as a specialty non-alcoholic drink. Around noon, we noticed Cast Members were lining up in the lobby and getting ready to officially unveil the new bar.

We happened to be very lucky, because this wasn’t announced anywhere! This bar is open from 12 PM to 11 PM each day. There is bar seating available here, though it does fill up pretty fast. However, we also saw servers talking with guests sitting around the lobby to ask if they’d like anything, so if you can’t get a seat at the bar, you don’t need to stress.

We checked out a few of the drinks available, but one of the ones that really pleasantly surprised us was the Pinot Noir, which our bartender recommended to us. It’s overall very smooth, but has a deep red cherry flavor with a bit of juicy and sweet notes. There’s a bit of tartness, but it’s nothing too overpowering, so it’s a great wine to sip on while relaxing in the lobby.

While it’s a little strange to have a bar in this lobby that we’ve been walking in and out of for years, it brought a really lively feel to the lobby that we loved. We also really appreciated that if you couldn’t find a seat at the bar, you could still be served at the regular seats in the lobby. However, we are a little stressed about all the new furniture and carpet — we’re sure something will spill at some time or another, and it’s going to be painful (to us, at least).

The best part? If you’re waiting for your table to be ready at one of the hotel’s restaurants, you can even bring the drinks with you into the restaurant!
