The NEW Disney World Hotel Warning I’m Issuing for July

Guests at the Grand Floridian have not been strangers to construction over the last few years, with several projects around the hotel, including lobby construction that led to no traditional gingerbread house last Christmas, the reopening of the Garden View Tea Room, and the debut of The Perch.

Now, a new refurbishment project is about to shut down one of the hotel’s most popular dining offerings for most of the summer.

In early 2026, Disney confirmed that the Grand Floridian Cafe will be closing from mid-July through October 2026 for a long refurbishment project.

That means that one of Walt Disney World’s most popular brunch offerings, best known for its Eggs Benedict, signature Grand Floridian Cafe Burger, and salads, soups, sandwiches, Chicken & Waffles, Steak & Eggs, and other traditional favorites, will be unavailable for most of the summer season.

Grand Floridian guests will still have a brunch option at the resort, as the meal will temporarily relocate to Citricos during the cafe’s closure. Currently, that Mary Poppins Returns-inspired restaurant is only open for dinner hours, which means that taking over for the Grand Floridian Cafe’s brunch should not affect Citricos’ normal service offerings.

As mentioned above, the refurb is the latest in a several-year-long line of projects at Disney’s headline resort. Furthermore, according to Disney, that work isn’t ending anytime this year.

According to the company, work will continue in select areas, including the covered entrance (AKA the porte cochere), through early 2027. “Guests may see or hear refurbishment work during daytime hours or need to take alternate paths of travel.”

The Grand Floridian Cafe — and its popular brunch offering — are set to close for refurbishment from June through October, as part of the larger ongoing refurbishment project at its namesake hotel. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on the Grand Floridian’s transformation.
