It seems like it’s been forever since Disney first announced the addition of the Disney Destiny to the Disney Cruise Line fleet, but here we are, SO close to the ship’s first sail date on November 20th!

The new ship comes with an EPIC theme, too: heroes and villains, so you can expect to see a lot of Disney heroes AND villains onboard. It’s also the first ship to feature a Marvel character, Spider-Man, on its stern. We got a chance to get an early look at the Destiny, so come with us as we check it all out!
The Disney Destiny will be sailing out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with 4 and 5-night cruises to the Bahamas and Caribbean. So let’s see what it’s all about.

We’ll be updating this post throughout our time on the Disney Destiny, so keep checking back for updates.
Boarding
It’s time to go onboard the Disney Destiny for the first time. We love all the Disney touches at the terminal that really help set the vibe for the cruise ahead.

We couldn’t wait to step on board, and the moment we stepped on board, it absolutely didn’t disappoint! After we explored the ship a but, it was time for the Christening Ceremony, which was SO much fun! We got to see some pretty incredible drone art, which totally took our breath away, and it was such a great way to get everyone excited for what was in store on board.

The fun wasn’t over though, because back on board, it was time for the Sailaway Party, which gave us a bit of a glimpse into what we’d be seeing on board. We got to see the storytellers that you’ll often find in the Grand Hall, some of our favorite Disney pals, and of course, lots of music to dance to.

There’s so much more to see though, so come along with us!
Grand Hall
The Grand Hall is the first real experience you get on board the ship, as well as where you’ll meet a lot of characters. In the Grand Hall, there’s a statue of Black Panther, which is the main eye-catcher of the space.

When we walked on board, we got to see Super Hero Minnie waving to everyone to greet them as they came on board, which was so fun!

We also got a chance to see Spider-Man, which was incredible! We loved his energy, and it was so great to see him on board.

It truly is grand and fit for a hero, but be sure to watch and listen closely, because sometimes you’ll get to see Loki pop up to cause some mischief. The 360-degree lighting effects in the room can effortlessly shift to match what character is about to walk in.

We even got to see one of the miniature shows that happens in the Grand Hall with Loki, which is where he declares himself King of the ship!

He’s also joined by two storytellers who help set the scene for him, and we also loved them. Overall, it was very entertaining and a lot of fun!

You’ll also find Dr. Facilier lurking around the Grand Hall, and the best part? You can join him for a game, but you’ll want to be careful what you gamble!

This is definitely a part of the ship you’ll want to revisit multiple times to see all the different characters that stop by.
Dining
The Disney Destiny features rotational dining, just like its other ships. You’ll get to dine at Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King, a restaurant dedicated to all things The Lion King.

We cannot wait to dine here and see the entertainment that happens while you dine. The decor, costumes, and performers all look incredible!

Like Disney’s other newest ships, you’ll also be dining at Worlds of Marvel. On the Disney Destiny, the restaurant features a Guardians of the Galaxy story as Groot organizes a surprise party for Rocket Raccoon.

We stopped by Cafe Megara super quick to snap a picture, and while we weren’t able to try anything just yet, it looks super cute! We can’t wait to visit it in full soon and bring you our review.

Be sure to indulge your sweet tooth at Edna A La Mode Sweets! This spot is home to tons of Incredibles theming, as well as basically all the sweet treats you could hope for.

The moment we stepped inside, we totally fell in love with the look and feel of it all.

We loved taking a look in the display cases and seeing all the goodies available to grab but keep in mind this is all an additional price — these snacks aren’t included with the cost of your cruise.

Stay tuned for coverage of the following:
- The 1923 restaurant is dedicated to Disney’s history and showcases sketches, props, and more from your favorite Disney movies. This restaurant features California-inspired dining.
- Marceline Market is a casual walk-around option for breakfast and lunch.
- Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods is an open-air dining spot for quick bites and treats located on the upper decks.
You’ll also be able to grab some fun drinks in the 101 Dalmatians-inspired De Vil’s Piano Lounge.

The spotted piano is one of our favorite parts of the space, but the red and black carpet is a close second.

We loved getting a look at some of the options on the menu as well — we can’t wait to try them out soon!

If you love Doctor Strange, be sure to drop by The Sanctum. This spot is fantastic for Marvel fans, and we love the upscale, elegant feel of it — it totally matches Dr. Strange’s vibe!

You’ll also find a Haunted Mansion Parlor on this ship to have drinks with some happy haunts.

The decor in here truly is incredible, and we could not get enough of it. However, it’s important to note that this isn’t the first time we’ve seen this lounge — it’s also available on the Disney Treasure. That doesn’t mean we weren’t happy to see it here too though!

If you’re a big fan of Haunted Mansion, this is absolutely a lounge you need to check out. Be sure you stick around for a little while too — you’ll start to hear and see some secrets that are easy to miss!

Cask and Cannon, on the other hand, is for all things Pirates of the Caribbean!

Rooms
We had a chance to visit a few cabins on the Disney Destiny, and you’ll find that they’re themed to different stories of Disney heroes! You may get a Hercules room…

…an Incredibles stateroom…

…or a stateroom themed to Mulan!

Various Royal Suites are also available on board, but of course, they’ll cost you more, but you’ll get some extra room and stunning decor because of it!

We can’t forget about the Destiny Tower Suite, which looks AMAZING! This is one that will absolutely take your breath away, and we’ll be honest — if we ever got the chance to stay in here, we think we’d either burst into tears or pass out.

Entertainment
There are lots of shows that take place in the Grand Hall that are all themed to telling the stories of different heroes and villains! One of the first one’s we got to see was the Storytellers tell the story of Loki, and he even shows up at the end and pops up to proclaim himself King of the Ship.

We also got to see Sleeping Beauty A Mostly Accurate Tail, which is those same storytellers coming back to the Grand Hall, this time telling the story of Sleeping Beauty. That means that they’ve gotta talk about Maleficent too, and she pops up at the very end when you least expect it!

You can also watch Sounds of Wakanda, which was so much fun and had some really great performers. If you love music, this is a must-see!

A brand new show is available on the Destiny, Disney Hercules. You can watch Herc go from zero to hero in no time flat, while being entertained by live actors.

You’ll also be able to enjoy Frozen: A Musical Spectacular.
The Disney Seas the Adventure show that you may already be familiar with will also be performed on the Destiny. This show stars Goofy and friends as they go on a high-seas adventure.

Characters
The Disney Destiny is FULL of characters, including all of those heroes and villains the ship is dedicated to. One of our favorites? None other than Hero Minnie!

You can also meet Maleficent down in the Grand Hall, but her meet and greet line got LONG fast, so if she’s a priority, we recommend getting in line at least half an hour ahead of time.

Shopping
Who doesn’t want to buy souvenirs on their cruise? There are plenty of shops to get your shopping spree on, but if you want cruise-specific merchandise, you’ll want to head to Mickey’s Mainsail.

Here you’ll find tons of special merchandise that you can ONLY find on board the ship, including a Inaugural Sailing Jacket that will only be available for a VERY limited time!

We also loved the Sling Bag that’s available, and have a feeling it’ll be one of the more popular items.

If you see something you like on one of these early cruises, we recommend grabbing it sooner rather than later, because it’s possible they could sell out and be gone!

Check out all the merchandise onboard here!
