The Disney World Hotel People Are AVOIDING Until February 2026 (and Why)

Pop Century is one of the most popular hotels on Disney property, with access to the Deluxe Tier Skyliner perk at Value Tier level prices. So, why are some Disney guests avoiding it until next February?

Disney’s Pop Century

I’ve been staying at Disney World hotels for over 30 years, and I’ve made no secret of how much I like Pop Century. The resort has some of the more interesting theming and backstory on Disney World property. However, there are reasons to avoid it over the next few months.

Currently, Pop Century is in the midst of a refurbishment that began in March of 2025. During this period, the hotel’s lobby was redone with a new “retro-inspired finish”, and guest rooms are being redone, leading to visible construction throughout daytime hours.

On top of that, from January 25th through January 31st, 2026, the Disney Skyliner will be closed for refurbishment. While Disney will offer complimentary bus service, the lack of one of Pop Century’s signature amenities is still something to consider for those booking trips in early 2026.

The good news is that the full refurbishment project is scheduled to be completed in February 2026, just after the Skyliner reopens, meaning that Pop Century should be back to full operational status no later than March 2026.

If you’re looking to book a trip in the next several months, however, we’d recommend looking across Hourglass Lane to the Art of Animation Resort. The two hotels — which at one point were actually meant to be part of the same massive Pop Century complex — both share a Skyliner station (so yes, Art of Animation will be affected by the Skyliner closure as well), and a similar price point and structure.

Thanks to several construction projects, some Walt Disney World guests are avoiding the popular Pop Century Resort until February. Stay tuned to AllEars for more coverage of Disney’s ongoing refurbishments.
