Something Has CHANGED in the Morocco Pavilion at EPCOT

There are a lot of changes happening in Disney World. Now, EPCOT has seen its share of changes over the past five years or so, including reimagining Test Track into a new version of itself.

Morocco!

However, we just recently noticed a NEW change in EPCOT at the Morocco Pavilion, and it may hint at the fate of a closed EPCOT restaurant: The sign at Restaurant Marrakesh has been removed.

Restaurant Marrakesh has been closed since 2020, and since then, the building has been used mostly as a temporary lounge throughout the year. However, the Restaurant Marrakesh sign has remained above the restaurant, perhaps hinting that it would return at some point. Here’s the sign.

However, that sign is now gone…or more specifically, the wording on the sign has been removed and it’s now just a plain medallion hanging from what was once Restaurant Marrakesh’s entrance.

It’s gone

So what does this mean? It’s likely that Restaurant Marrakesh is gone for good, considering it’s been over five years since its closure. But does the removal of the sign mean that Disney has plans for the space? Could we see a new restaurant come to the Morocco Pavilion? Or will this be turned into a permanent lounge?

One thing we also noticed, though, is that the painted logo that says “Restaurant Marrakesh” on the side of the building is still there. We’ll be keeping an eye on it to see if it, too, disappears.

The side of the building is unchanged

In the meantime, there’s still a table service restaurant in Morocco, Spice Road Table, so if you’re looking for food in that pavilion, you still have options.
