7 EPCOT Restaurants We AVOID at ALL COSTS

EPCOT is home to some of the best dining experiences at Disney World, but let’s be real – not every restaurant is a winner.

To that point, we thought we’d reach out to you and get your takes on which EPCOT restaurants you were avoiding at all costs.

We reached out to our followers on Facebook and Instagram to ask: “What EPCOT restaurant do you avoid at all costs?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!

What do you think?

Now, let’s go over some of your top responses!

Coral Reef Restaurant

If there was one restaurant that stood out as the top “no-go” spot in your opinion, it was Coral Reef. For example, Amelia didn’t hold back when she said, “Coral Reef. It’s the only restaurant in all of Disney that I can give a 0/10. Granted I haven’t eaten there in a few years, but I’m still distraught over the whole experience.” And Steve chimed in with a slightly less harsh, but still definitive, “To be fair, even though not a bad experience but I wouldn’t go back to Coral reef as a one and done for me.”

While the ambiance is a big draw, it sounds, for you, the food just doesn’t live up to the setting. Overall you seem in agreement that Coral Reef is one of those places you try once…and never again.

Le Chefs de France

Listen, a fancy French meal in the heart of EPCOT sounds dreamy, right? Well, according to Barbara, it’s more of a nightmare: “Le Chefs de France. We have had 2 bad experiences in a row, then took a break. Then we tried them again and had another bad experience. Not ever going to try them again.” Yikes.

Biergarten Restaurant

Now, some folks love an Oktoberfest-style buffet with live German music. George is not one of those people. “I avoid Biergarten Restaurant with a passion. I dislike the food immensely. Beers are good but the food…blech.”

Biergarten

If you’re into bratwurst, schnitzel, and communal dining, Biergarten could be a great time. But if you’re like George and the menu just doesn’t do it for you, it might be better to grab a pretzel and beer elsewhere in the Germany Pavilion.

Nine Dragons Restaurant

EPCOT’s China Pavilion is gorgeous, but Nine Dragons? Well, it’s not one of your favorite. Pat put it simply: “Nine Dragons because I can get the same food for less at home.”

Nine Dragons

This was a common theme from you when it comes to this restaurant. While the food isn’t necessarily bad, many of you feel it doesn’t offer anything more special than your local joint (especially for the price tag). If you’re looking for more unique flavors, you might want to skip this one.

Le Cellier Steakhouse

We usually see Le Cellier often considered as one of EPCOT’s premier dining spots, but not all of you are sold on the hype. For example, Pat had a pretty strong complaint about the restaurant’s cramped seating: “Le Cellier because I don’t like sitting in a stranger’s lap to eat (or have to get up because the table next to me has to use the facilities!).”

Le Cellier

Maryanne also wasn’t impressed: “We tried Le Cellier twice. It was a terrible experience both times.”

If you don’t mind tight quarters and a steep price tag, you might still enjoy Le Cellier. But quarters might be close and since it is a steakhouse, it can be pretty pricey!

Rose & Crown Dining Room

British pub fare in EPCOT sounds like a good idea, but AE reader Trisha wasn’t convinced: “Rose and Crown. The menu is so tiny and I get better fish and chips at the Yorkshire Quick service next door.”

Rose and Crown

That’s right. Some of you thought the counter-service Yorkshire County Fish Shop actually does it better than the sit-down restaurant. If you’re craving fish and chips, you might want to save your time (and money) and opt for the quick-service version instead.

Starbucks

We know, we know. Starbucks isn’t technically an EPCOT restaurant, but several of you like Kimberly felt strongly enough to call it out: “I don’t do Starbucks at Disney at all because it’s stuff I can get at home. When I travel, I like to get things I can’t get at home.”

Connections Cafe (Starbucks) Line

You know, she’s not wrong! EPCOT is packed with unique coffee and tea options from around the world. If you’re looking for something new and exciting, you might want to skip the familiar green mermaid logo and try Joffrey’s Coffee or a specialty drink from one of the World Showcase pavilions instead.

  1. If you’re looking for coffee at Disney, Joffrey’s definitely isn’t it. Anyone that says they enjoy Joffrey’s either hasn’t ever had a good cup of coffee and/or just likes it because it tastes like a visit to Disney.

  2. Well, Coral Reef was/is a 1 and done. Food isn’t anything special. Biergarten is ok and Nine Dragons is spot on. I like Chefs de France. Le Cellier, where to start. Before and even after the beginning of the dining plan this place was awesome. Now it’s gotten so popular it no longer lives up to the hype. They’ve stuck more tables in because it’s so popular. The steaks are now mediocre at best. Get better steaks in the resorts. IMHO.

  3. Let me guess. You think the turkey legs in America are awesome. If you don’t like the food from a country, don’t eat there.

  4. Totally disagree on your review of France. I just celebrated my birthday lunch there. Everyone was attentive. The food was good. I have celebrated my birthday there for several years

  5. I had an amazing experience at Coral Reef some years agao..when Scuba Divers came and delivered a message to my then, 4 year old son in the tank….the food is meh. I agree with that.
Rose and Crown is great as is 9 Dragons…Biergarten was a 9/10for us our first time there & a 4/10 the next time. Have always wanted to go to Le Cellier but it’s just never worked out.

  6. You’re at Disney, for heaven’s sake, so of course food will be pricey. I don’t see you complaining about the ticket prices to get into the parks. Those are obscene. The French and German restaurants were great given the menu offered. Since you apparently don’t like that kind of Faire, I suggest Burger King or McDonald’s next time. Maybe you should travel abroad, cuisines differ. The whole purpose of visiting those countries is to see what they’re famous for and try the local foods and ales.

    1. Totally agree with you. No chicken nuggets on the German buffet? No pasta in France? (This is sarcasm, btw). Just shows why Epcot continues to be more of a drink around the world destination as opposed to being able to actually sample some other cultures.
