REVIEW: Yet ANOTHER Reason You Should Leave Magic Kingdom for Breakfast

Planning a trip to Disney World and not sure where you should eat while you’re there? We’re here to help!

Who’s ready for some delicious eats?

Here at AllEars, we know all the ins and outs of Disney restaurants — including where you should definitely eat, and where you should skip. We recently stopped by Grand Floridian Cafe at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and we are bringing you our FULL review so you can decide if it’s worth the stop on your next trip!

Background

Grand Floridian Café is open for both brunch and dinner and offers spectacular views of the resort. It’s been open as part of the hotel from day one, which was June 28th, 1988.

Grand Floridian Cafe

It’s a pretty hidden gem inside the resort, making it extra special in many ways. Here’s what you need to know about dining at this restaurant.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere here is like an upscale cafe, almost like where you’d go to have afternoon tea. Each and every Cast Member we encountered was so wonderful, and really made us feel welcome.

Let’s step inside!

There’s lots of space inside the restaurant, so you won’t feel crammed at all, even if the restaurant is full.

So much seating!

You’ll find a mix of table seating and booths, and we love the lighting in here as well. It’s bright without being overstimulating, and really puts a magical, whimsical feel over everything.

So whimsical!

But enough about that, what are we eating?!

Food & Drinks

To start off, you’ll get the Biscuits with Butter and Citrus Butter. The biscuits weren’t anything special, but they were fluffy with a bit of a crisp on the outside.

Biscuits and Butter!

The citrus butter was really tasty! It had a light citrus flavor and sweetness that was pretty addicting. The regular butter was great too — both were very light and airy, so we certainly had no complaints.

Yum!

Next up was the Floridian-style Eggs Benedict for $19, which is Two-poached Eggs, Corn Cakes, Pulled Pork, and Poblano Hollandaise served with Marinated Tomato Salad.

Floridian-style Eggs Benedict

This was delicious! The egg was cooked perfectly and the yolk oozed out once you cut through it. The corn cake had lots of corn flavor and some sweetness to it, and it held up really well with all the toppings. The pulled pork was tender with a hint of sweetness as well, and we feel all the toppings had a great balance. The red onions were pickled and added a great acidity to balance out the other flavors. The sauce reminded us a lot of a hollandaise sauce, but with more herb flavor to it. It was creamy and light, and really brought all the flavors together, so consider us impressed!

Oh yes, we loved this

We also grabbed the Buttermilk-fried Chicken and Waffle for $27, which is Hand-breaded Chicken Breast and Malted Waffle with Sriracha-Honey Drizzle.

Buttermilk-fried Chicken and Waffle

It’s hard to beat a Mickey waffle already, but add a juicy and tender piece of meat breaded in a super crispy, yet thin, coating and it’s pretty wonderful! The waffle was crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and the breading on the chicken was also fantastic. This was a real winner in our book, and it also wasn’t overly spicy, despite the Sriracha-Honey Drizzle.

We loved!

Finally, for dessert, we snagged the Key Lime Bar for $9, which is made with Graham Cracker Sable, Toasted Meringue, Strawberry Sauce.

Key Lime Bar

The bottom had lots of graham cracker flavor and while it was a bit on the crispier side, it was a good balance to the softness of the key lime bar. The key lime bar itself was silky, smooth, creamy, and plenty flavorful, but we enjoyed that it wasn’t overly sweet.

Delicious!

The torched meringue on top was light and airy and the strawberry sauce was smooth and full of strawberry flavor. The macaron on top (which we believe was pistachio) was also fantastic, with a nice crunch on the outside and soft inside!

Magic or Tragic?

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

  • You’re looking for a fancier dining experience without paying an arm and a leg
  • You’re staying at Grand Floridian or are on the Monorail route
  • You’re looking for a brunch menu that has something for everyone

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

  • You’re not near the Grand Floridian and/or don’t want to leave Magic Kingdom to eat elsewhere on the Monorail route
  • You prefer quicker meals
  • You’re not a fan of whimsical/fancy theming
Are you thinking of dining here on your next vacation?

Overall, we think this is a great spot in Disney World, especially for brunch. It may give you a similar “fancy” feel as dining at a place like The Cake Bake Shop would, but without the high price tag. Plus, it’s got a pretty big menu, so everyone should be able to find something they like.

It’s so gorgeous in here!

We’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for the latest Disney news and more!

  1. A must do every time we’re in WDW. Aside from the ambiance, delicious food that never disappoints, always hospitable service, control over crowds and children, and so many special surprises and memories over the years, it’s a must do regardless of where we stay while we’re at the parks. Have done multiple meals during the same stay as well (breakfast, lunch and dinner)! I think it’s my favorite restaurant anywhere on Earth and I’ve been a few places ?
